Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and uListen, Inc., a Delaware corporation with a mailing address at 400 Waters Park Circle, San Mateo, CA 94403, United States. uListen, Inc. operates uListen and is the successor to Podwiz, Inc. for the uListen product.

By installing or using uListen (“the service”), including the Chrome extension, Android app, or iOS app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Terms from the browser or app store through which you received uListen can also apply.

2. Description of the Stable Service

uListen helps people discover, understand, and remember supported long-form podcast episodes. Depending on the platform, stable features can include:

  • Crystal Clear Captions: speaker-labeled captions and word-level highlighting
  • At a Glance: summaries, takeaways, notable quotes, and episode context
  • Transcripts and Read Along: searchable text, click-to-seek, chapters, and synchronized reading
  • Smart playback: familiar transport controls plus detected intros, ads, and chapter boundaries
  • Discovery: supported channels, catalog search, recent episodes, and listening queues
  • Local organization: favorites, Continue Listening, Next Listens, saved ideas, and Yours
  • Platform tools: features such as Android smart detection, Android Auto, widgets, iPad layouts, and share images where available

Features can differ by platform, episode, device, and release. We can modify, suspend, or discontinue a feature or the service.

3. Supported Content

uListen works with selected, pre-processed episodes from supported podcast channels. It does not support every video, episode, or channel. Summaries, transcripts, captions, chapters, playback, and other features can be unavailable when source content changes, is removed, cannot be embedded, or has not been processed.

We can add or remove content and do not guarantee that a specific episode, channel, or feature will remain available.

4. Free, Anonymous, and Device-Local

The stable service is free and does not require a uListen account or sign-in. Stable uListen does not sell a paid plan, process subscription billing, sync your activity to a uListen account, import personal YouTube account data, or provide personal AI conversations.

Favorites, queues, playback history, saved ideas, and preferences stay on your device. Clearing product data or uninstalling can permanently remove that local state. uListen cannot recover device-local state for you.

5. Generated Episode Information

Summaries, transcripts, speaker labels, chapters, and segment boundaries are generated or assisted by automated systems. They can contain mistakes, omissions, timing errors, or incorrect speaker attribution.

  • Summaries are interpretive and can omit nuance or context
  • Transcripts can be wrong, especially for names, technical terms, and cross-talk
  • Speaker identification can attribute words to the wrong person
  • Intro, advertisement, and chapter boundaries are approximate

Generated information is for general informational use, not a definitive record or professional medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. When accuracy matters, open the original episode and verify the relevant moment.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for an illegal, harmful, or abusive purpose
  • Interfere with the service, its security, or other users
  • Attempt to bypass technical limits or access controls
  • Use automated means to scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content
  • Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit uListen or derived content without permission
  • Use the service to violate another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights

7. Intellectual Property and Source Content

The uListen code, design, branding, and service are owned by or licensed to uListen, Inc. Underlying podcast audio, video, names, artwork, and other source material belong to their respective owners. Generated transcripts, summaries, and excerpts are provided for personal use with the service and do not transfer ownership of the source content to you or uListen.

Respect the rights and sharing rules of the original creator and platform when saving or sharing an idea from an episode.

8. Third-Party Services

uListen relies on third-party services. Google and YouTube provide source content and playback. Apple, Google Play, and the Chrome Web Store distribute the product. Google Cloud hosts service infrastructure. Sentry and Firebase Crashlytics help diagnose reliability. Your use of third-party services is also governed by their terms and privacy policies.

uListen is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, policies, or actions.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains the information sent when you use the service, local device state, diagnostics, retention, embedded YouTube playback, and your choices. By using uListen, you acknowledge those data practices.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available for particular content, or accurate. We do not guarantee that captions, transcripts, summaries, speakers, or segment timing will meet your requirements.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, uListen, Inc. and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, opportunities, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Changes and Termination

We can update these terms by posting a revised version and changing the date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. We can suspend or end access to the service when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or service operations. You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling it.
