    People with ADHD get told they're always in a good mood. But here's the thing, people with ADHD are only always in a good mood around people they don't trust, and that's because they grew up being told off by everyone. Like anything they did was met with criticisms. You're too much, you're too dramatic, you're too sensitive. So as an adult, they assume everyone is dangerous. So that smile, that bubbly personality is a defense mechanism. It's a mask to protect them until they figure you out. Only their inner circle gets to see them unmasked, and that version is rarely in a good mood. That is what depression looks like. That looks like lying in bed crying because they're too overwhelmed to figure out what outfit to wear, or sitting on the floor stimming because they can't decide what to eat today. That's the version that their partner gets to see because they trust them
