Lockdown cabin fever: Korean baseball, cardboard crowds, and staying sane
- JRJoe Rogan
Duh, duh, duh. (hand slaps) Adam motherfucking Egott.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
How are you, buddy?
- AEAdam Eget
How are you, brother?
- JRJoe Rogan
Good to see you, my friend.
- AEAdam Eget
Good to see you. Thanks for having me on.
- JRJoe Rogan
Please. I'm, I'm excited to see you.
- AEAdam Eget
Dude, I'm-
- JRJoe Rogan
It feels like a-
- AEAdam Eget
... I, I haven't seen anybody.
- JRJoe Rogan
I know, it's like, uh, your long lost friend. Like-
- AEAdam Eget
It, it feels that way.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
But it also feels like you're literally, like, the only person I've seen. I haven't s-
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, you haven't left the house?
- AEAdam Eget
Not much. I go out on daily walks, but-
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, no.
- AEAdam Eget
... and I don't really see anybody.
- JRJoe Rogan
That's not good for the mental health.
- AEAdam Eget
It's not good at all.
- JRJoe Rogan
How you feeling? You all right?
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, I'm okay.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah?
- AEAdam Eget
I'm watching a lot of Korean baseball and, uh-
- JRJoe Rogan
(laughs) Why Korean baseball?
- AEAdam Eget
'Cause it's the only live sport available.
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, they're playing in Korea already.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, it's wild. There's stands. The s- you know, stadiums are empty, but they have, like, cardboard cutouts. They have-
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, no, they don't.
- AEAdam Eget
... cheerleaders with masks and, like, DJs.
- 1:06 – 3:10
From “Aliens” to Terminator: when strong female leads worked without fanfare
- JRJoe Rogan
'Cause have you ever seen what happens when they take old movies and then they port them over to, like, Blu-ray?
- AEAdam Eget
No.
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh. One of the best example is Aliens, the second-
- AEAdam Eget
That's my favorite action movie of all time.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's a great fucking movie.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's a great fucking movie. I don't think it's as good a horror movie as the original one.
- AEAdam Eget
No, it's not a horror movie.
- JRJoe Rogan
'Cause the first one's a horror movie.
- AEAdam Eget
Same with me. Yeah, yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, it's James Cameron. It's just fucking guns blazing. Ahh. Ta-ta-ta.
- AEAdam Eget
It doesn't stop.
- JRJoe Rogan
Never stops.
- AEAdam Eget
It's the most adrenaline fueled movie I've ever seen from beginning to end. It just keeps progressively getting more intense and more intense.
- JRJoe Rogan
And you know what's great about those movies? The hero is a woman, and no one gives a fuck-
- AEAdam Eget
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
... 'cause they're so good, there's no, there's no, like, "Oh yeah, it's a diverse movie."
- AEAdam Eget
Exactly.
- JRJoe Rogan
"It's amazing for women."
- AEAdam Eget
It's not Captain Marvel.
- JRJoe Rogan
"It's a big moment for wo-" No.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
No, it's just Sigourney Weaver being a fucking badass fighting the most evil monster movies have ever created.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs) Yep.
- JRJoe Rogan
Fuck yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
That's the best.
- JRJoe Rogan
You know? Yeah, but I love-
- AEAdam Eget
I love it.
- JRJoe Rogan
... I love that kind of, like, gender equality when it's just equal-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- 3:10 – 5:15
We’re approaching sci‑fi reality: bionic eyes and Black Mirror catching up
- JRJoe Rogan
Well, she became more fierce, right? She adapted to the world of the Terminators, which doesn't seem that far off from where we're at right now.
- AEAdam Eget
Not at all.
- JRJoe Rogan
We're like closing in on Terminator time.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, definitely.
- JRJoe Rogan
Dude, there's a working, uh, article I was reading today about a bionic eye that will be available in five years that will be superior to a biological eye.
- AEAdam Eget
That's insane.
- JRJoe Rogan
Insane. Within five years. And I was gonna send it to Michael Bisping.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, that's like, how do they even make-
- JRJoe Rogan
I'm gonna send it to him.
- AEAdam Eget
How do they even make Black Mirror anymore? It's, we're already surpassed it.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's, that's what the Black Mirror guy said.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
He's like, "I'm not even doing the season."
- AEAdam Eget
No, it's, yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
"I can't do it. The world's too absurd."
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
But, uh, my friend Michael Bisping-
- AEAdam Eget
Wait, what was his-
- JRJoe Rogan
... he's a former UFC middleweight champion.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, he's from, like, Manchester or something, right?
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes, exactly.
- AEAdam Eget
Okay.
- JRJoe Rogan
His, his one eye is like super fucked up. He's had several detached retinas to the point where it's basically blind. He, he barely can see anything out of one eye.
- AEAdam Eget
From fighting?
- JRJoe Rogan
Mm-hmm, from fighting. He's a beast.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
Bionic eye could offer perfect sight, night vision within five years. Motherfucker.
- AEAdam Eget
That's crazy.
- JRJoe Rogan
Th- this is how they're gonna get us, man. Between Elon Musk and these eyeball people-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- 5:15 – 6:41
HD ruins movie magic: Blu‑ray, matte paintings, and why remasters can backfire
- JRJoe Rogan
So anyway, um, I watched Aliens on Blu-ray.
- AEAdam Eget
Okay.
- JRJoe Rogan
And it's so terrible.
- AEAdam Eget
Why?
- JRJoe Rogan
Not the movie itself.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
But there's, there's one scene where the spaceship is in the, the foreground and in the background is supposed to be like, you know, some space type shit.
- AEAdam Eget
Sure.
- JRJoe Rogan
Right? It looks so bad-
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, high def.
- JRJoe Rogan
... because it was just a painting.
- AEAdam Eget
Right, it's a matte painting.
- JRJoe Rogan
And, yeah, and because the way they were focusing you barely could see it. So it's fine in the film. When he was watching it in low def-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
... on his monitor, he's like, "Perfect, looks great." But in high def it looks so fake.
- AEAdam Eget
That makes so much sense.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
They created in, in, you know, based on the technology available at the time and the way they shot it.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, you shouldn't watch those movies enhanced.
- AEAdam Eget
No.
- JRJoe Rogan
They should just keep 'em at the original, the original resolution, how it was really shot as.
- AEAdam Eget
I agree.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's really kind of stupid to-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
... to do that because there's stuff... They made decisions, man, back when special effects weren't the same thing. They made decisions.
- AEAdam Eget
Exactly.
- JRJoe Rogan
And they were good decisions.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, it's hard to watch some of those in high def. It really...
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, you're like ruining the movie.
- AEAdam Eget
It takes me out of the movie. Yeah, it takes you out of the whole thing.
- 6:41 – 7:56
Twilight Zone vs. Black Mirror: favorite episodes and tech-driven dread
- JRJoe Rogan
Twilight Zone's-
- AEAdam Eget
Twilight Zone's my favorite television show of all time. I've seen every episode at least five times.
- JRJoe Rogan
I would agree with you, and f- sp- uh, specifically because the fact that it came first, but I put b- I put Black Mirror in that league.
- AEAdam Eget
Black Mirror was so good.
- JRJoe Rogan
Black Mirror is so good. It's so good.
- AEAdam Eget
Do you have a favorite Black Mirror episode?
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes. The one that you and I watched when we were getting NAD'd. Uh, mm, the museum?
- NANarrator
Black Museum.
- JRJoe Rogan
Black Museum.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, that was a fucking-
- JRJoe Rogan
God damn.
- AEAdam Eget
That was horrific. Terrifying.
- JRJoe Rogan
God damn, that was good. So good. That and Crocodile. Crocodile d-
- AEAdam Eget
Crocodile was very underrated.
- JRJoe Rogan
Very underrated.
- AEAdam Eget
That was a great one.
- JRJoe Rogan
Very terrifying.
- AEAdam Eget
Terrifying.
- JRJoe Rogan
'Cause you could see, like, a good person making these choices, and then these choices-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
... accelerate to the point where-
- AEAdam Eget
She was great.
- JRJoe Rogan
... whew!
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
That's such a good show.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, that was a great one. I loved, I loved the Star Trek one. I know it was very popular-
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, the Star Trek one was very good.
- AEAdam Eget
... but that one was so well done.
- JRJoe Rogan
Very good, very good.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- 7:56 – 9:50
Politics as memes: out-of-context outrage, Trump clips, and viral edits
- JRJoe Rogan
He hardly even ... The problem is, he said outlandish shit over the course of X amount of years.
- AEAdam Eget
Mm-hmm.
- JRJoe Rogan
And if you, like, dissect it, it's like he's just spouting it out all day long.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
The way they do it is they take you out of context and then they change what you are, right? 'Cause if- if you're a guy like Trump who does say ridiculous shit sometimes, particularly before he was ever president, so-
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
But a lot of people do.
- AEAdam Eget
Mm-hmm.
- JRJoe Rogan
You know, it's f- it's called talking shit.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
And it's what a lot of people do it, right? But you can't do that if you ever plan on being president.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
But if you just take all of those talking shit moments and condense 'em together and go, "This is him!" You're like, "Oh my God, this is a monster."
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
But nobody's like that all day. Like, people vacillate, they vary, and that's-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There is someone... You know, sometimes the, the internet really does, does some great work, and, uh, yesterday I saw somebody splice together that great soundbite of him suggesting that they inject humans with, uh, with Clorox.
- JRJoe Rogan
(laughs) Like Lysol.
- AEAdam Eget
That whole ... Yeah, Lysol, or maybe ... I'm not a scientist, but maybe we do that. And then there's this great clip with Jim Downey and Billy Madison. I don't know if you remember that movie real well.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes! I saw that really recently.
- AEAdam Eget
And so funny. So he's talking all this shit about, uh, "Maybe we can inject it into people. I'm not a scientist, but I don't know, maybe something there." And then it cuts to Jim Downey and he's like, he's like, "Nowhere in your incoherent ramblings have you said anything that makes any sort of sense."
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes. (laughs)
- AEAdam Eget
"I award you ... Like, everyone in this room is now infinitely dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points."
- JRJoe Rogan
(laughs)
- AEAdam Eget
"And may God have mercy on your soul." (laughs) It was well done.
- JRJoe Rogan
That's one of those beautiful videos that people will post up in a r- as a response to things, and it's just like, you can't say shit when someone says that.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah. They had a great one with Hannah Gadsby cut with, like, a audience... I guess I shouldn't talk about that probably.
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, I know what you're talking about.
- AEAdam Eget
With the ni- uh, the Apollo.
- JRJoe Rogan
Night at the Apollo.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, yeah.
- 9:50 – 23:07
Comedy Store revival story: Rogan’s return, Roast Battle, and Mitzi’s “trial by fire”
- AEAdam Eget
Ah, I missed The Comedy Store.
- JRJoe Rogan
The internet's undefeated. Yeah, man, I miss The Comedy Store too. F- for people don't know, like, "Who's this Adam guy?" You, you are the man who got me to come back to The Comedy Store. You came to the Improv-
- AEAdam Eget
I did, I did. I mean, I appreciate that, but-
- JRJoe Rogan
That's true. You came to the Improv-
- AEAdam Eget
... it was my number one goal.
- JRJoe Rogan
There was two things that happened. The first one was you coming to the Improv and talking to me and explaining to me things are different and, and all the old people-
- AEAdam Eget
We know each other for a long time.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. Yeah, but we knew each other from Tempe.
- AEAdam Eget
We knew each other from Tempe.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. And, um, then the second thing that got me to do it was Ari, when Ari was having his special there.
- AEAdam Eget
Dude, that was the hardest I ever worked ... To get them to green light that special, it was so important to me, 'cause we love, we love Ari to death.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. Ari is, to me ... I mean, I've known Ari since he was a doorman at The Comedy Store.
- AEAdam Eget
Yes.
- JRJoe Rogan
We became friends when he was a doorman. He was just starting out. And, um, to see him go from being a doorman to filming his special at The Comedy Store, I was like, "I have to be there. Even if I have to swallow my pride, I g- I have to be there." So he was filming on a Wednesday, so I went on Tuesday, just so it wouldn't shock my system and I could just appreciate his filming.
- AEAdam Eget
Nice.
- JRJoe Rogan
So I came down Tuesday and it was Roast Battle, and I was like, "Holy shit." And Jeff Ross gave me this crazy introduction at Roast Battle and, you know, that I was ... That was the first time I was at The Comedy Store in seven years and, you know. And then I was, I was seeing how creative everybody was. Like, the Roast Battle thing was so, so different.
- AEAdam Eget
Mm-hmm.
- JRJoe Rogan
Because it's obviously, like, jokes that these guys had to write about each other.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
So it's like it forces you into writing jokes. It- it takes away the ... The one thing that fucks most comedians is that they don't write. So when you're forced into a battle, like, you're gonna have to do battle next Tuesday with this girl, and this girl's vicious, like, you gotta come up with some mean shit to say about her-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
... to make it really funny. And she's writing some mean shit about you.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, yeah, you already know that she's gonna have some shit for you.
- JRJoe Rogan
Dude, I ... It's not my style.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
I don't do comedy like that.
- AEAdam Eget
It's a different muscle.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, it's a diff- it's a diff- just a different ... I'm too mean-
- AEAdam Eget
It's more mean.
- JRJoe Rogan
... in real life.
- 23:07 – 31:10
Reopening debates and survival plans: why lockdown rules feel inconsistent
- JRJoe Rogan
Mm. It happens, bro. When do you think we'll be able to start up shows again?
- AEAdam Eget
I'm really hoping in July.
- JRJoe Rogan
Jesus Christ.
- AEAdam Eget
I feel like-
- JRJoe Rogan
July?
- AEAdam Eget
... I know, but it's, but, but realistically, I think July. I- I-
- JRJoe Rogan
What would you think about opening up a comedy store in Austin, Texas?
- AEAdam Eget
I mean, that would do really well.
- JRJoe Rogan
I think it would do really well.
- AEAdam Eget
I think it really would.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
Uh, I love that town.
- JRJoe Rogan
The conversations I've been having on the phone lately.
- AEAdam Eget
Ooh.
- JRJoe Rogan
I did Reconnaissance this weekend.
- AEAdam Eget
Did you?
- JRJoe Rogan
Flew to Texas, yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, shit.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
Um, do you know Charlie?
- JRJoe Rogan
(laughs)
- AEAdam Eget
Do you know the guy who runs... (laughs) Do you know Charlie, uh, the guy who runs, um, uh, South by Southwest Comedy Division?
- JRJoe Rogan
No.
- AEAdam Eget
He'd be a good guy to talk to, probably. Uh-
- JRJoe Rogan
Well, I would just talk to comedians.
- AEAdam Eget
That's great.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, I mean, I don't need to talk to anybody but the comics. I just feel like, um, there's a l- lot of people in Austin. There's a m- a million people. They have two good comedy clubs right now. Cap City is a great room. And then they have the Velveeta Room, which I've never done, but I hear really good things about. And, uh, I don't know if they have anything else. How many... I think that's it for-
- AEAdam Eget
Every time... I've been in the South-
- JRJoe Rogan
But it's interesting actually.
- AEAdam Eget
... West a couple different times for comedy week and it's just been insane.
- 31:10 – 36:19
Health as preparedness: sauna routines, vitamin D/zinc, and missing public guidance
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, dude, I've been ultra paying attention to my health while this is all going on. That's one thing that's helped a lot. Like, while this is going on, I-
- AEAdam Eget
You're almost paying attention to your health.
- JRJoe Rogan
... you have a really... Like, I'm in the sauna every day, 25 minutes every day, no excuses.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs) Fucking monster.
- JRJoe Rogan
Like, super regular workout routine, super regular with my vitamins, super regular with everything. Just being really on ball. 'Cause, uh, it made me, uh... You can't take your health for granted. And that's a simple statement that sorta just bounces around a room like a beach ball, doesn't mean anything.
- AEAdam Eget
This puts it in perspective.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes. This puts it in perspective.
- AEAdam Eget
There's no doubt about it.
- JRJoe Rogan
And in the beginning, people were less cunty too, I don't know if you noticed.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
'Cause they were really worried they were gonna die.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
And so things meant something.
- AEAdam Eget
You know what it reminded me of?
- JRJoe Rogan
(laughs)
- AEAdam Eget
It was the, it was like the week after 9/11. Everyone was real friendly with each other.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yes, exactly.
- AEAdam Eget
Super neighborly.
- JRJoe Rogan
Exactly.
- AEAdam Eget
And now it's like, I go out in traffic, people are cutting each other off.
- JRJoe Rogan
But it's worse than 9/11 because after 9/11, people went back to normal. Now they're gonna go back from all this niceness, they're gonna go back to being a cunt, and there's no work.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
And then they're angry, you know. And you were saying something important earlier. You said we could fall into some sort of a class warfare type situation.
- AEAdam Eget
It's terrifying.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, it is terrifying. And I don't, I don't think it had to be this way.
- AEAdam Eget
No.
- JRJoe Rogan
And I don't think it has to stay this way. And they're talking about not even opening up LA until July 4th, 4th of July weekend.
- AEAdam Eget
Mm-hmm.
- JRJoe Rogan
I'm like, "Hey, man, like why?" What's, what's... This is so arbitrary. And there's no talk whatsoever about strengthening your immune system. None.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah, what the fuck? Like, the most important things are just falling by the wayside. Like, I don't understand that.
- 36:19 – 54:45
Comedy ecosystem under strain: limited spots, rising killers, and remembering Brody Stevens
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. That's a weird position, uh, th- as a talent coordinator for a comedy club where all the best comedians go to.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
So it's like everyone who's in town, whether it's Chappelle or Bill Burr or whoever, they're all there.
- AEAdam Eget
They're all there.
- JRJoe Rogan
So there's no spots.
- AEAdam Eget
And then there's the one... And then there's you and Joey Diaz and, you know, everybody else and Whitney Cummings and all the A-plus, uh, level comics-
- JRJoe Rogan
They're every week.
- AEAdam Eget
... are there every single night when they're in town.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
And they're in town.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
Um, and then that leaves you, you know... And then from 11:00 to, to 12:00, that's all the Andrew Santinos-
- JRJoe Rogan
Mm-hmm.
- AEAdam Eget
... and the Eric Griffins and the Fahim Anwars and all these other beasts that aren't filling fucking arenas, but they're-
- JRJoe Rogan
They're still killers.
- AEAdam Eget
... they're the next ones up, you know?
- JRJoe Rogan
So if you're some new guy or gal-
- AEAdam Eget
That leaves like-
- JRJoe Rogan
... that's coming up the line-
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
That leaves like five spots a night at the end of the lineup.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah.
- AEAdam Eget
And then you got 250 comics calling in every week just to fit into that paradigm. So, it's like, sorry, you know. It's not... Nothing personal.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. There's... There's no club like it.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
You know, and no club ever been like it either, where there's no shortage of people in the audience. I mean, those years that I... From when I came back to when the pandemic hit, were the, the craziest years I've ever seen in standup comedy at that place, by far. Like a... Like a whole new dimension. Like a whole world had, had shifted.
- AEAdam Eget
It's... It's been so fucking cool to watch. You know? And to see that shift. There's some comics that are coming up right now, though. Some of the, the ones that I passed in the last year or two, I'm so excited about. Like this guy, uh, Brian Simpson, is... I... You gotta... Necc-... When we reopen again, I'm telling you, this guy's a beast. He, um... Segura. He, he opens up for Segura now.
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, nice.
- AEAdam Eget
He's fantastic. Uh, Lara Bites, who you know, is fantastic.
- 54:45 – 59:22
Twitter, PC backlash, and the return of cultural combat after the initial crisis
- AEAdam Eget
Do you think all the PC bullshit and the social justice warrior shit is going to, uh, be tempered after we, we, we-
- JRJoe Rogan
No.
- AEAdam Eget
No.
- JRJoe Rogan
No, I think it was tempered because of the real danger. I think the real threat and the real fear tempered it, and now that that's gone away, um-
- AEAdam Eget
It's gonna-
- JRJoe Rogan
... the real fear is gonna give way to a new level of anger because of this level of despair people are gonna be experiencing financially over the next few months. So there's b- gonna be a heightened... It's almost gonna be a, a, like it has a slingshot effect.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, fuck.
- JRJoe Rogan
Like, people got less cunty and then they're gonna get more cunty and more self-righteous.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, more, more self-righteous, more people chastising and criticizing people. And on Twitter you really see it because people are literally forced to be at home. So if you're forced to be at home and you don't have the discipline to stay off Twitter and you happen to comment something and someone comments on your comment and then you start talking shit to each other, that's your day.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs) Yeah, always, not only is that your day, but you're, you're gonna be crazy. Like you're gonna be thinking about it in the middle of the night, "What the fuck did they write?" You get up to pee, "I'm not gonna check my phone. Let me check my phone real quick. Fuck!" (laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
... and they said something that's pretty good, and you're like, "Goddamn it. Now I gotta come up with something to say back."
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
So you start googling statistics and-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, man. I mean, this is what a lot of people are doing. It's making people sicker and sicker. I've, uh, almost completely avoided Twitter, other than I'll check my DMs occasionally. And, uh, occasionally I'll check what other people have posted that I'm friends with or that I follow, check a little bit, but I might give it, I might give it five minutes a day. I might-
- AEAdam Eget
I deleted my Twitter icon about a year ago, and then I just reinstalled it-
- JRJoe Rogan
Mm-hmm.
- AEAdam Eget
... maybe about a week or two ago.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah, I have it-
- AEAdam Eget
And I'm already starting to see, like, "What am I doing? Why am I even looking?" It's just getting me pissed off.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's just, too many people are angry.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
It's just too many.
- AEAdam Eget
About nonsense. (sighs)
- JRJoe Rogan
Well, maybe it's, uh, it's, uh, to them it's important, right? It's like, when you post it, it's important. But when you're dealing with, whatever the fuck it is, 100 million people that are on Twitter or more, probably more, that are posting on a regular basis, and then most of what they want to say is anger. Most of what they have, want to say is negative. Most of it's complaining. It might be, like, 60% complaining.
- AEAdam Eget
Yeah.
- JRJoe Rogan
So when you tune into that, like, you're getting all the problems of all these people. It's just too many people. You're supposed to deal with the problems of the people that are around you. So if there's, like, 10 people around you and Tommy's got a problem, "What's wrong with Tommy? Let's go talk to Tommy." It's not supposed to be 10 million people.
- AEAdam Eget
Right.
- JRJoe Rogan
And then there's 100s of 1,000s of Tommys just flooding your fucking, your feed with bullshit, nonsense. "My fucking girl's lying about this and they say we can't vote in November. Fuck that. I say we sue." And-

Hollywood performativity and “fake personalities”: liking things because you’re ‘supposed to’
- JRJoe Rogan
Exactly. I remember I had this conversation with this dude once. I was on a TV set when I first started acting and-
- AEAdam Eget
On NewsRadio?
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. No, before that.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh.
- JRJoe Rogan
Hardball.
- AEAdam Eget
Oh, okay.
- JRJoe Rogan
Yeah. This is, uh, early in my acting career.
- AEAdam Eget
Okay.
- JRJoe Rogan
It was, it was quite crazy. And, uh, I was talking to this dude about, uh, a movie. Actually, it might have been NewsRadio days 'cause I think that's when this movie came out. It was, uh, As Good As It Gets.
- AEAdam Eget
Sure. With Jack Nicholson?
- JRJoe Rogan
Which I thought was the most fucking depressing movie.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs) That's pretty funny.
- JRJoe Rogan
I'm like, here's this lady and she's, she's so nice and she keeps accepting this guy for fucking up-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
... over and over again. And then at the end, the solution is he takes a pill and the pill keeps him from being an asshole?
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
Like, what? There's no pill for that.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
Like, that's so crazy. He's an asshole.
- AEAdam Eget
Sorry, he was a major asshole.
- JRJoe Rogan
He's a fucking asshole. And we're s- we're supposed to think, "Oh, no, no, no. He just needed a pill." See, once he gets this non-asshole iminium inside of his body-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
... it cancels out all the assholishness and he's actually a good guy. So she found a good guy.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
Oh, she's... Poor lady was a single mom-
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
... who's living with this fucking mean piece of shit.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
- JRJoe Rogan
And a pill fixed it. And I was like, that movie depressed the fuck out of me.
- AEAdam Eget
(laughs)
