From guest to host: Rogan’s “everyone should podcast” ripple effect

    1. NA

(drumming music) Joe Rogan podcast, check it out. The Joe Rogan Experience. Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night, all day. (rock music)

    2. JR

Cheers, sir. Good to see you, buddy.

    3. RW

Cheers. Good to see you, man.

    4. JR

We were just saying, you're- you're a professional podcaster now too.

    5. RW

Yeah, I guess. (laughs) A little bit different, you know?

    6. JR

      Isn't that wild?

    7. RW

      It's wild, man.

    8. JR

I mean, when I met you, nobody was podcasting. (laughs)

    9. RW

No. You were like- you were like-

    10. JR

      (laughs) No, that's funny.

    11. RW

"You should podcast. You could do a really good podcast." I'm like, "All right, I'll podcast." (laughs)

    12. JR

(laughs) I wonder how many podcasts I've talked people into doing.

    13. RW

A lot. I think you're responsible for most-

    14. JR

      (laughs)

    15. RW

... of my Spotify playlist. (laughs)

    16. JR

      It's gotta be over 50.

    17. RW

      Dude-

    18. JR

At this time? Like, the amount of people that actually have podcasts, that got podcasts after I told them, "You should probably do a podcast."

    19. RW

      Yeah.

    20. JR

People were getting annoyed at me. I- I ran into people that would tell me personally in the street, "Dude, I love your podcast, but please stop telling everybody to do a podcast."

    21. RW

      (laughs)

    22. JR

I was like, "Why? What if they're good at it? What if they get good at it?"

    23. RW

      Yeah.

    24. JR

Like, what's the pro- what's the harm? You don't like it? Don't download it.

    25. RW

      No.

    26. JR

It's super easy to deal with.

    27. RW

It is, yeah. Yeah, that was the thing. You were just like wa- You were like, "Remy, you know what you need to do?" "What?" "Podcast." It was like, I think you told me three times before it got- (laughs)

    28. JR

      (laughs)

    29. RW

      Fuck.

    30. JR

Well, you're a great podcast guest.

  2. 1:222:49

A life in the field: hunting 200 days a year and why wilderness never gets routine

    1. JR

Yeah. And your perspective is very interesting, 'cause your perspective as a guy that hunts, like, how many days a year do you hunt?

    2. RW

      Now, I don't know. It's probably, well-

    3. JR

      Down to 200?

    4. RW

      Yeah, something like that.

    5. JR

      (laughs)

    6. RW

      Yeah. No, seriously.

    7. JR

You know what that is? That's- that's most of the year.

    8. RW

Most of the year, most of the year.

    9. JR

      You're in the woods.

    10. RW

      Yeah, exactly.

    11. JR

      Which is crazy. That's like-

    12. RW

      It is crazy.

    13. JR

... super unusual for a human being.

    14. RW

      It is, yeah.

    15. JR

Like, living in America in 2024, what percentage of the population do you, like, consider your peers?

    16. RW

      A very, very small percentage.

    17. JR

'Cause like Cam Hanes, Rinella, you, Dudley, but I don't think th- those guys hunt as much, you know?

    18. RW

      No, yeah. I'm-

    19. JR

They don't- they don't hunt as much, 'cause you guide as well.

    20. RW

Yeah, I'm just like a different kind of addict, where I just have to be out there-

    21. JR

      Yeah.

    22. RW

      ... and doing it.

    23. JR

Well, it's, you know, the people that don't know, it's- it's an am- amazing experience just to be out there. It's amazing. It's like nothing else that you ex- it's- it's literally wild.

    24. RW

      It is, yeah.

    25. JR

There's a lot of wild things that you do-

    26. RW

      Yeah.

    27. JR

... that are like, "Wow, this is wild." But no, this is literally wild.

    28. RW

      Yeah.

    29. JR

      Like, for real wild.

    30. RW

Well, I think the thing is for me is I can go out there, and every- you don't know what you're gonna encounter.

  3. 2:495:24

Musk ox above the Arctic Circle: whiteouts, wind, and the frozen-ocean landscape

    1. JR

You know? I mean, there's too many different environments. Like, you just got back, I was listening to your podcast, about, uh, hunting for musk ox.

    2. RW

      Yup.

    3. JR

And that experience of, like, hours and hours every day in just whiteness.

    4. RW

      Yeah.

    5. JR

Just snow and nothing but on snowmobiles.

    6. RW

      Yeah.

    7. JR

Like, that fucking freaks me out.

    8. RW

It's a- that- that was the best part about it is just, like, the place. Sometimes hunting takes you to those really cool places that you never thought you'd go. Like, nobody goes above the Arctic Circle unless they're a scientist figuring out, you know, global warming shit, or somebody going hunting, 'cause it's not- I guess there's a few people doing polar expeditions and things like that. But it's not a place you just go vacation.

    9. JR

      Is this from your Instagram?

    10. NA

      Man: Yeah.

    11. JR

So this is what it's like out there? Oh, wow. So it's like little trailers out there?

    12. RW

Yeah, you're just- you're essentially traveling on frozen ocean. And you look at the size of the Arctic, and it's-

    13. JR

And how many people live up there?

    14. RW

It's like larger than North America.

    15. JR

      Is it really?

    16. RW

For the most- I- I'm- I'm not sure exactly how big it is, but when you look at the whole Arctic Circle, that whole region, it is massive.

    17. JR

Is it really larger than North America?

    18. RW

Or like- larger than the United States, for sure.

    19. JR

Wow, and so larger than the United States, and it's all just snow?

    20. RW

I guess it's part of North America, so you can't really say it's larger than North America. But yeah, it's just wild. It's, uh, frozen snow, and then there's to- so there's like the frozen ocean, and then there's islands in it that would be land. Kinda has some undulation in there, like little hills. There's a Arctic hare just digging. I- s- peop- it's like, what do they eat?

    21. JR

      Yeah.

    22. RW

I don't know. They eat the tundra, I guess.

    23. JR

The Arctic hare and the ptarmigans, right?

    24. RW

      Yeah.

    25. JR

      Like, what do they eat?

    26. RW

S- I don't know, just the grasses, seeds.

    27. JR

      Just whatever pops up-

    28. RW

      Whatever pops up, yeah.

    29. JR

... out of the, in little spots-

    30. RW

      Lichens, yeah.

  4. 5:247:17

Remote village logistics: subsistence living where fuel arrives once a year

    1. JR

The Arctic. And when you're out there, um, how many people live there full time?

    2. RW

      Uh, I can't remember. I think it- it's under 1,000.

    3. JR

      Wow. And so-

    4. RW

And that's like a larger- we flew into like a larger area and then went, you know, 100- over 100 miles from there.

    5. JR

What do those folks do for the most part?

    6. RW

Uh, there's some- in the summertime, there's like fishing, and then hunting in the wintertime. And that's-

    7. JR

And that's what they live off of?

    8. RW

Uh, yeah. The- there's- there is stuff, like cert- some of the more remo- there's other villages that don't have, you know, like an airplane that goes to it or whatever. And they're-... purely subsistence or getting things in couple times a year. Like, that particular spot, the fuel comes in once a year.

    9. JR

      Once a year?

    10. RW

      Yeah.

    11. JR

And so, if somebody pokes a hole in the fuel tank-

    12. RW

      That's it.

    13. JR

      ... you're fucked.

    14. RW

      Yeah, you're done.

    15. JR

      Oh my God.

    16. RW

      It's pretty crazy.

    17. JR

Fuel comes in once a year is such a crazy thing to say.

    18. RW

      Yeah.

    19. JR

Like, you gotta plan for the whole year.

    20. RW

How much fuel? Everybody uses diesel for everything, heating-

    21. JR

      (sighs)

    22. RW

      ... everything.

    23. JR

And if you don't have it, you're fucked.

    24. RW

      Yeah.

    25. JR

      Wow.

    26. RW

Very, very, very crazy. Like, I don't know. It's just, there's places in the world that are so unlike what we're used to.

    27. JR

      Oh, yeah.

    28. RW

      And that's one of them.

    29. JR

Which, imagine, there's people that are gonna live their whole life there-

    30. RW

      Yeah. Oh, yeah.

  5. 7:1710:21

Arctic food culture: muktuk (whale fat), boiled meat, and survival-driven cooking

    1. RW

Yeah. They like, uh, their food, they like to eat stuff that, uh, I wasn't a fan of. It's, uh, called muktuk. It's, like, essentially whale fat that's been dr- like, cured.

    2. JR

      Whoa. Like, fermented?

    3. RW

Uh, not fermented. It's more like salted, almost like-

    4. JR

      Oh, okay.

    5. RW

      ... like, whale beef jerky.

    6. JR

      Oh, like, okay. Ooh.

    7. RW

      Yeah.

    8. JR

Whale fat, that's what it looks like?

    9. RW

      Yep. That's it.

    10. JR

Bourdain told me that fermented shark was the most disgusting thing he ever ate.

    11. RW

Yeah, I haven't had that, but I've heard it's really bad.

    12. JR

      And they love it.

    13. RW

      Like, jellying shark.

    14. JR

And apparently, wherever the fuck it is, I guess it's Iceland, where they eat it a lot-

    15. RW

      Iceland, yeah.

    16. JR

That's what it looks like, Jamie?

    17. NA

      Yeah.

    18. JR

Is that what it wou- looked like when you were eating it?

    19. RW

      Yeah.

    20. JR

      What does it taste like?

    21. RW

Uh, I don't... It's, like, greasy, rotten fish maybe.

    22. JR

      Ugh.

    23. RW

      Uh, no, not a fan.

    24. JR

What kind of whale is it too?

    25. RW

The guys, the, some of the Inuit guys, they have, like, preferred whale kinds. They like narwhal the best is what he said, and then beluga whale. And then there's other whales that they don't like as much.

    26. JR

      Huh.

    27. RW

So, yeah, like, when the community gets like a, I gue- they do all that in the summertime, and then they save it for the wintertime. But I guess you'd need to eat a lot of fat to survive the winter.

    28. JR

Whale, in my brain, is, goes into the same category as monkey. Like, you're eating whale or you're eating monkey.

    29. RW

      Yeah.

    30. JR

I'm like, "Yo, do you have to do that?" (laughs)

  6. 10:2114:32

Happiness vs achievement: trappers, fishing guides, and choosing a simpler life

    1. JR

It's probably good. It's probably good for you. Those people that live... Have you ever seen that Werner Herzog, uh, Werner Herzog film, Happy People?

    2. RW

Ah, man, I can't remember it. Seems a-

    3. JR

It's the, the one where the, uh, trappers in the taiga in Siberia.

    4. RW

No, I haven't seen that one.

    5. JR

It's an amazing documentary. So Werner Herzog went to, uh, Siberia and hung out... I don't know if he was just narrating it or if he was actually there. I think he was just narrating it. Hi- maybe he went there, but someone went there. Point is, like, these people are extremely happy, and they just, all they do is go trapping and fishing and hunting, and they live in these villages, and they go around on snowmobiles. And it's, it's a kind of, uh, it's interesting because it's like what is life supposed to be about? Is it supposed to be about enjoying yourself? Or is it supposed to be about accomplishing things? Like, 'cause if it's supposed to be about accomplishing things and you don't enjoy yourself, it seems like you're kind of missing part of the point of life.

    6. RW

      Yeah.

    7. JR

And these people, their life is enjoyable. Like, they love fishing. They're laughing and they're, when they're going hunting, they're talking about hunting, how much they love hunting and fishing, and it's fun, and you, you know, get all this food. And they, they're just pulling these massive pike out of the river. They have these giant nets and shit, and so they're having a good old time, like, all day long.

    8. RW

      Yeah.

    9. JR

They're freezing the fish. They feed the fish to the dogs. Like, they have this whole system worked out. They just completely exist with what they have, with very little thi- other than, like, snowmobiles and the occasional, like, m- machine that they nee-... They make all their skis. They hand-make their skis.

    10. RW

      Wow.

    11. JR

This guy was, like, showing how to make a ski, and so he, like, is, like, using the pitch and the tar, and, like, heating the, the thing up, and cutting it perfectly and planing it. It's pretty amazing stuff.

    12. RW

      Yeah, that's wild.

    13. JR

      They're the happy shit.

    14. RW

I guess that's it's like, yeah, everybody works real hard to go on vacation and going fishing.

    15. JR

      (laughs)

    16. RW

(laughs) Like, this is just what we're doing, man.

    17. JR

      They just live that way.

    18. RW

      Yeah.

    19. JR

I met a dude when I was in the British Virgin Islands who worked for a big tech company.I don't wanna say the company, but it's like a major company that, like, you know, they make like fucking jets and shit for the military.

    20. RW

      Hmm.

    21. JR

And, um, he just was like, "I don't see this. I, I don't see ... This is, this just doesn't seem like a good path for the rest of my life." Um, he goes, "I'm seeing all these people that were managers and executives, they're trying to work their way up the corporate ladder and everybody's miserable, everyone's exhausted, everyone's overworked. They're all putting in crazy hours. They bring work home with them and they har- hardly see their family." They make a lot of money, sure, but he was like, "Fuck this." And he just became a fishing guy, British Virgin Islands.

    22. RW

      Yeah.

    23. JR

Fucking super chill guy. But as I was talking to him, it's like bringing up scientific terms for different animals, and like the way, uh, different, uh, fish have like very specific ... I forget the term he was using about like, uh, it was particularly about, um, barracuda. That barracuda, like, they, they make their skin oilier to, so they can go faster.

    24. RW

      Really?

    25. JR

So they can move through the water faster. Yeah, they're lubed.

    26. RW

      (laughs)

    27. JR

They're, they're lubed up. But he was explaining it in like these scientific terms. And I was like, "Wow, this guy is like very, uh, has amazing vocabulary for a guy who runs a fishing boat." Like he sounds like a scientist.

    28. RW

      Yeah.

    29. JR

Like a guy who I would talk to on a podcast. And the more we're talking, you know, 'cause we're on this four-hour, um, fishing trip, and the more we're talking, he starts telling me his background, he starts talking about th- the business that he was in. I was like, "That's crazy." And so he just decided to bail on it all and just start fishing. Like that's like a character in a movie.

    30. RW

      Yeah. (laughs)

  7. 14:3217:28

Wrist injury saga: a botched surgery, complications, and rebuilding function

    1. JR

So we brought you out here today, uh, to do a podcast, but also because I wanted to get you into Ways to Wow because, uh, you had a crazy wrist injury-

    2. RW

      Yeah.

    3. JR

... that, um, you had a, you wound up getting two surgeries on, right?

    4. RW

Yeah, 'cause last time I was in here I had just started shooting that mouth tab.

    5. JR

      That's right.

    6. RW

      So-

    7. JR

      We talked about last time.

    8. RW

Yeah, I think I just got it set up.

    9. JR

      'Cause we practiced.

    10. RW

      Yeah, and we shot-

    11. JR

      Yeah.

    12. RW

... in the ... That was like some of the first arrows I'd flung in s-

    13. JR

      (laughs)

    14. RW

... in front of a, an- an- another human. (laughs)

    15. JR

(laughs) That mouth tab thing had to be weird.

    16. RW

      Yeah. Yeah.

    17. JR

For people who don't know what we're talking about, um, well, so just explain the injury. Let's get into the injury first.

    18. RW

Yeah, so I mean, I, I tore a tendon in my wrist that does a lot of the movement things and it ended up being dis- dislocated and had to do a reconstruction of the tendon and all that stuff. Had a surgery, essentially a botched surgery which made ... A, a- the surgery that, the surgery did probably more damage than maybe even the initial thing, come to find out.

    19. JR

      Really?

    20. RW

Yeah, so the, the surg- the bad surgery caused a lot of complications and then had to have like a salvage surgery after that.

    21. JR

What, what kind of complications did it cause?

    22. RW

I mean, I lost the feeling in my hand. Um-

    23. JR

You don't feel anything in that hand?

    24. RW

No, I do now. The second surgery, they like fixed all that.

    25. JR

      Oh, wow.

    26. RW

Um, there was, uh, yeah, just like the, the recovery. It went from, you know, essentially a ... What, what do they promise? Like three-month to six-month kind of recovery to a couple years down the track and still not even being able to function 100%.

    27. JR

      Wow.

    28. RW

Still a lot of pain and other things. So, um, but yeah, but because of that-

    29. JR

So wh- so what was wrong with the first surgery? Like what did they do? It just didn't turn out well?

    30. RW

Yeah. Well, the, um, they broke, uh, one of the bits when they were drilling in and it got, the bit, I guess, got broken in the, it's like a hollow screw. So it got busted off in there, so then they tried to use another bit to retrieve the bit and broke that bit.

  8. 17:2818:35

Bowhunting with a mouth tab: adapting fast so the season isn’t lost

    1. RW

That's what ... Yeah, so that, that caused the pro- so yeah. And, and part of it for me is just I, so I wasn't gonna sit out in archery season so I learned to shoot with my mouth 'cause I couldn't draw the bow with my right hand, with the right wrist 'cause it was immobilized for a long time, cast and all that stuff. So I would've missed the s- the hunting season. So I just learned to shoot biting down on a tab, drawing back, shooting. Got super proficient with it and had probably one of my best seasons. Like-

    2. JR

      Wow.

    3. RW

It was awesome. You know, did-

    4. JR

I remember when Dudley did that. Dudley had, uh-

    5. RW

      Yeah.

    6. JR

      ... shoulder surgery.

    7. RW

Yeah, and he actually had, he had to switch hands, too, which I was fortunate. I think it was better that, it was like it was my dominant hand.

    8. JR

      Right.

    9. RW

But for bow shooting you control ... I'm right eye dominant.

    10. JR

      Yeah.

    11. RW

So I control the bow with my left hand. So it was the same everything except just biting and shooting.

    12. JR

Oh yeah, I've often thought about that, if that's smart.I think my right arm's probably more stable than my left arm.

    13. RW

      Yeah. Well-

    14. JR

      It's quite a bit stronger, I think.

    15. RW

Are you ... You shoot right-handed?

    16. JR

      Yeah.

    17. RW

      Yeah. So-

    18. JR

I pull the bow with my right.

    19. RW

      Yeah.

    20. JR

But I feel like my right would probably be more stable.

  9. 18:3539:52

Archery mechanics & mindset: eye dominance, target panic, and “no single right way”

    1. RW

It would. That's the, that's the thing people... So, if you don't know for archery, you base off what hand you shoot. It's actually your eye dominance. So, whatever eye is the eye that controls your vision is the eye that you shoot with with a bow, so you can have both eyes open, see the sight and the pin and the target simultaneously. So, if you wanted to know how to do it, you can, like, put your hands up, focus on an object that's far away, and then close one eye, and if it stays there, that's the dominant eye. If it moves, so when I-

    2. JR

      Yeah.

    3. RW

... close my left eye, the object stays there. I'm right eye dominant, so I shoot a right-handed bow, which is weird because you're drawing it with your right hand.

    4. JR

      (laughs)

    5. RW

But every other ... Like, if you're shooting a pistol and you're right-handed, you use your dominant hand to control the weapon.

    6. JR

      Right. Yeah.

    7. RW

So, it ... Like, really, if you're cross-eye dominant and you shoot a bow, everybody thinks that's a bad thing. It's probably a better thing. You are probably almost more natural, in a way.

    8. JR

It's either way. Obviously, you could shoot a bow with your left hand. Obviously, people shoot a bow with their right hand.

    9. RW

      Yeah.

    10. JR

      So, either way would work.

    11. RW

      Exactly.

    12. JR

Like, I think it's a lot of malarkey.

    13. RW

      Yeah. Well-

    14. JR

I think there's a lot of malarkey that I recognize from, like, like, when people tell you you have to do certain things s- one way with martial arts.

    15. RW

      Right.

    16. JR

Like, s- most of the time, most of the time.

    17. RW

      Yeah.

    18. JR

But there's a lot of exceptions.

    19. RW

      There is.

    20. JR

      There's-

    21. RW

      Yeah.

    22. JR

... a lot of different ways to skin a cat.

    23. RW

Like, there's people that s- didn't even know that and they started drawing to their non-dominant eye, but you can-

    24. JR

      Yeah.

    25. RW

... never shoot with both eyes open that way.

    26. JR

Boxing trainers will always tell you, um, that you sh- like, in the beginning, they would never tell you to switch stances. Never switch stances. But some of the best fighters ever switch stances.

    27. RW

      Yeah.

    28. JR

But you're not them. But wait a minute, how do you become them? I mean, s- the, some of the best boxers of all time, like Terence Crawford, today, one of the best switch hitters ever. Marvin Hagler, switch hitter. Uh, Boots Ennis. There's, like, really good boxers today that switch hit. They do it all the time. But back in the day, you just stood one leg forward and you got ... And, like ... But, uh, some people do it this way, right?

    29. RW

      Right.

    30. JR

So, why not learn to do it that way and be able to do it this way?

  10. 39:5244:20

Recovery tools and training: stem cells, knee rehab, and rebuilding durability

    1. RW

It does, yeah. It puts pressure-

    2. JR

      Does it hurt?

    3. RW

... on the one spot that we got the, the ... They did those injections, man. I'm hoping that-

    4. JR

      Yeah. I saw-

    5. RW

      I, I have a lotta ... I think it's gonna be awesome. Like-

    6. JR

It's gonna make a big difference.

    7. RW

      Yeah.

    8. JR

It's, uh, I f- I can't say enough about Ways to Well and just stem cells in general. I mean-

    9. RW

      Mm-hmm.

    10. JR

... I've, I've got a bunch from my friend Roddy McGee in, um, Vegas. And, um, uh, the ... What they do is fix things that you would ordinarily have to get surgery for.

    11. RW

      Yeah.

    12. JR

And in your case with the torn ligaments, they would have to have a surgery.

    13. RW

      Yeah.

    14. JR

They have- That's what they said. But once-

    15. RW

      Yeah, once-

    16. JR

      ... it's ripped-

    17. RW

      ... after that, you know-

    18. JR

      Yeah.

    19. RW

... the recovery portion is where you need it.

    20. JR

Exactly. And it just really helps heal injuries, man.

    21. RW

      Yeah.

    22. JR

Like really helps. I have had a left knee problem for a long time. Like I, I tore my ACL on my left leg when I was 22, I think.

    23. RW

      Hm.

    24. JR

I tore it, and then, uh, had a surgery on it where they did a patella tendon graph and they tried to suture up the meniscus, 'cause there was a tear in the meniscus as well. Um, but the suture didn't take and the meniscus tore and then had a bucket handle tear in the meniscus, which is pretty significant, 'cause it would lock my leg out. And so then they had to get-

    25. RW

      Oh, yeah.

    26. JR

... some of the meniscus removed. So it's always like a little less stable there. There's a little space there, and it gets banged around.

    27. RW

      Yeah.

    28. JR

It's always sore. And it, and it got-

    29. RW

      (clears throat)

    30. JR

... over the last couple of years, it, it's actually the stupidest fucking wa- hurt it ever. I was on my way on stage at Stubbs in Austin, which is outsi- outdoor venue. And as w- I was going up these cement stairs, the stairs take like a little turn, and I was turning the recorder on on my phone to record my set, and I stubbed my foot against the stone, and it twisted my knee sideways like somebody heel hooked me. And it, it was excruciating. And I had to go on stage, like right there.

Phones, status, and surveillance: green bubbles, AI features, and location tracking

    1. JR

I love, I've had Samsung... I was very disappointed when I found out the moon photo wasn't real though. Oh.

    2. RW

      Oh, dang.

    3. JR

I was bragging to everybody, "Look at what my phone can do."

    4. RW

      Right.

    5. JR

"I can take a picture of the moon." (laughs)

    6. RW

(laughs) Yeah. But I mean, they're great pictures-

    7. JR

      It's lies.

    8. RW

... it was great, you know?

    9. JR

It's so clear. How is it doing?

    10. RW

      Yeah, so good. (laughs)

    11. JR

      (laughs)

    12. RW

'Cause it's lying to you. You know?

    13. JR

They're like, "It's no different than face filters." I, it's a lot different. If a face-

    14. RW

      Yeah.

    15. JR

... filter makes me look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, like then-

    16. RW

      Yeah.

    17. JR

... you know, something's going on with that face filter. It's lying. (laughs)

    18. RW

      Right. (laughs)

    19. JR

That moon pho- filter's a fucking lie.

    20. RW

      Yeah.

    21. JR

But other than that, they're amazing phones. I just, um, you know, it's, I'm just locked in the fucking Apple ecosystem.

    22. RW

      I know.

    23. JR

      But I love the rebels.

    24. RW

      Yeah.

    25. JR

Like my friend, Brian Simpson, he's Android for life. He makes fun of everybody with Apple. Gordon Ryan, same thing, Android for life, and you.

    26. RW

      Yeah.

    27. JR

You don't, you like annoying people. (laughs)

    28. RW

I do. I'm just like, my favorite thing is just breaking Green Bubble. You know?

    29. JR

      (laughs)

    30. RW

And the best is like, I get taken off of group texts. I'm like, "Thank God." (laughs) I hate group texts.

  12. 1:01:521:22:55

From deepfakes to disasters: edited reality, climate swings, and extinction bottlenecks

    1. JR

There's another thing the Samsung thing can do. Like if someone's annoying-

    2. RW

Just take them out of the photo.

    3. JR

... and, like, if we take a photo, I'm like, "I'm tired of Jamie's bullshit." You could take ... Just circle Jamie and press that little magic button, and poof-

    4. RW

      Gone.

    5. JR

... Jamie goes away. And they'll fill you in with the background. How do you like that?

    6. NA

Yeah, better pictures. Get everybody out of them.

    7. RW

      Yeah. (laughs)

    8. JR

      (laughs)

    9. NA

      (laughs)

    10. JR

But you could also doctor photos too. You can do all ... You can make things way bigger than they really are. Like, you could take a car and say, "Look at this crazy car I saw," just ... (imitates car revving)

    11. RW

      Yeah.

    12. JR

Just s- put it in the middle of the street, bigger than everything else. And everybody would be like, "What the fuck?"

    13. RW

It's so hard to tell what's real anymore.

    14. JR

      It's real hard to tell.

    15. RW

      It's crazy.

    16. JR

      It's almost impossible.

    17. RW

I know that ... Like, I always get these ads that are, like, you talking about something that's not you talking.

    18. JR

      All bullshit. Yeah.

    19. RW

      It's insane.

    20. JR

So many people send them to me. They go, "Hey, man, is this real?" Like, "Uh, no."

    21. RW

      No.

    22. JR

"I never heard of that company, I don't know what they're doing."

    23. RW

      Yeah.

    24. JR

      "They're just jacking my voice."

    25. RW

      Right.

    26. JR

"And y- It's probably some dude in Nigeria making some money."

    27. RW

(laughs) Yeah. Sure. Get a free crossbow (laughs) from Joe Rogan.

    28. JR

      Like (laughs) what?

    29. RW

      Selling free crossbows.

    30. JR

      (laughs)
