(drumming music) Joe Rogan podcast, check it out. The Joe Rogan Experience. Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night, all day. (rock music)

    2. JR

Cheers, sir. Good to see you, buddy.

    3. RW

Cheers. Good to see you, man.

    4. JR

We were just saying, you're- you're a professional podcaster now too.

    5. RW

Yeah, I guess. (laughs) A little bit different, you know?

    6. JR

      Isn't that wild?

    7. RW

      It's wild, man.

    8. JR

I mean, when I met you, nobody was podcasting. (laughs)

    9. RW

No. You were like- you were like-

    10. JR

      (laughs) No, that's funny.

    11. RW

"You should podcast. You could do a really good podcast." I'm like, "All right, I'll podcast." (laughs)

    12. JR

(laughs) I wonder how many podcasts I've talked people into doing.

    13. RW

A lot. I think you're responsible for most-

    14. JR

      (laughs)

    15. RW

... of my Spotify playlist. (laughs)

    16. JR

      It's gotta be over 50.

    17. RW

      Dude-

    18. JR

At this time? Like, the amount of people that actually have podcasts, that got podcasts after I told them, "You should probably do a podcast."

    19. RW

      Yeah.

    20. JR

People were getting annoyed at me. I- I ran into people that would tell me personally in the street, "Dude, I love your podcast, but please stop telling everybody to do a podcast."

    21. RW

      (laughs)

    22. JR

I was like, "Why? What if they're good at it? What if they get good at it?"

    23. RW

      Yeah.

    24. JR

Like, what's the pro- what's the harm? You don't like it? Don't download it.

    25. RW

      No.

    26. JR

It's super easy to deal with.

    27. RW

It is, yeah. Yeah, that was the thing. You were just like wa- You were like, "Remy, you know what you need to do?" "What?" "Podcast." It was like, I think you told me three times before it got- (laughs)

    28. JR

      (laughs)

    29. RW

      Fuck.

    30. JR

Well, you're a great podcast guest.

  2. 15:0030:00

    Yeah, so I mean,…

    1. JR

well, so just explain the injury. Let's get into the injury first.

    2. RW

Yeah, so I mean, I, I tore a tendon in my wrist that does a lot of the movement things and it ended up being dis- dislocated and had to do a reconstruction of the tendon and all that stuff. Had a surgery, essentially a botched surgery which made ... A, a- the surgery that, the surgery did probably more damage than maybe even the initial thing, come to find out.

    3. JR

      Really?

    4. RW

Yeah, so the, the surg- the bad surgery caused a lot of complications and then had to have like a salvage surgery after that.

    5. JR

What, what kind of complications did it cause?

    6. RW

I mean, I lost the feeling in my hand. Um-

    7. JR

You don't feel anything in that hand?

    8. RW

No, I do now. The second surgery, they like fixed all that.

    9. JR

      Oh, wow.

    10. RW

Um, there was, uh, yeah, just like the, the recovery. It went from, you know, essentially a ... What, what do they promise? Like three-month to six-month kind of recovery to a couple years down the track and still not even being able to function 100%.

    11. JR

      Wow.

    12. RW

Still a lot of pain and other things. So, um, but yeah, but because of that-

    13. JR

So wh- so what was wrong with the first surgery? Like what did they do? It just didn't turn out well?

    14. RW

Yeah. Well, the, um, they broke, uh, one of the bits when they were drilling in and it got, the bit, I guess, got broken in the, it's like a hollow screw. So it got busted off in there, so then they tried to use another bit to retrieve the bit and broke that bit.

    15. JR

      (gasps)

    16. RW

And then they used a hammer and like a-

    17. JR

      Oh, no.

    18. RW

They used a hammer and something else to pound out the, um ...

    19. JR

      The bit?

    20. RW

      The, the broken stuff, yeah.

    21. JR

      Oh my God.

    22. RW

And then that caused the, everything was h- it was an anchor screw, so then that tore the ... So they took my tendon, used that tendon to make a tendon, and then that, that, that damaged the tendon. But then, you know, I'd been under, under a tourniquet for so long that it's like you gotta just finish it up, see what happens. Well, what happened was the tendon tore, so essentially his surgery was a complete failure. It didn't work at all.

    23. JR

      Oh, wow.

    24. RW

Plus I now had all this additional scar tissue from the hammering and the, trying to beat the thing back out. So that's what caused a lot of like-

    25. JR

Did you go to a veterinarian or a regular doctor? (laughs)

    26. RW

      Yeah. (laughs) Exactly. So-

    27. JR

      This guy working on horses?

    28. RW

No, it was actually, it was like a first monkey's performing surgery. I thought it was like, "This is gonna be great." (laughs)

    29. JR

(laughs) It'd be a cool YouTube video.

    30. RW

Yeah, yeah. It would be a great YouTube video, yeah.

  3. 30:0045:00

    Mm-hmm. …

    1. RW

there's times where you go ... It, it's actually the opposite for me. If something's surpri- Is like there, it's, you're just like, "Ah, it's here." But it's when you gotta stalk all day on something-

    2. JR

      Mm-hmm.

    3. RW

And you're like, "I've invested my entire day into this," or, "This is the last chance," like, "don't fuck it up." (laughs)

    4. JR

      Yeah.

    5. RW

And then, like, you go ... That's when you start to, "Okay, well, when, when I get there, here's what I'm gonna do."

    6. JR

      Yeah.

    7. RW

Talk yourself through it in a way.

    8. JR

When you're going through the shot, do you talk to yourself as you're shooting, as you're pulling the trigger?

    9. RW

Um, no, but there's a- a little bit of a checklist just so I don't kind of like... Draw back, anchor, level, focus-

    10. JR

      Mm.

    11. RW

      ... kind of a-

    12. JR

So you just go through that checklist in your head?

    13. RW

      Yeah, I think so.

    14. JR

So do you, do you go through it like audibly or do you go through it-

    15. RW

      No.

    16. JR

... where you just do the things?

    17. RW

      I do the things.

    18. JR

      L- b- level-

    19. RW

      Yeah.

    20. JR

... lev- m- um, center your peep?

    21. RW

      Yeah.

    22. JR

All that? Go through all that?

    23. RW

Yeah, align... Just, I just make sure that I'm- I'm making the good shot, and then I just focus on that shot.

    24. JR

Mm. Do you, um... Have you ever tried the thumb triggers? Or-

    25. RW

Yeah, I shoot... I've got all kinds of releases and I'll just shoot 'em all, but just for... I don't even know why. Just for fun, I guess?

    26. JR

      Right.

    27. RW

Or like, let's say, um, sometimes too, if I'm like shooting and I go, "God, this is... I'm just not shooting good," then I'll swap up the way that I shoot and go, "Oh, okay." There's something like... M- my normal method of shooting is... Yeah, maybe it's... I don't even know if you'd call it tar- like essentially a target panic kind of where I'm not shooting right?

    28. JR

      Mm.

    29. RW

Then I go... I'll grab that other one, "Oh, okay," and then I get back in the rhythm and, and shoot.

    30. JR

Do you find any difference in your accuracy with a handheld release, like a thumb trigger release versus a finger trigger release?

  4. 45:001:00:00

    Yeah. …

    1. JR

      rebels.

    2. RW

      Yeah.

    3. JR

Like my friend, Brian Simpson, he's Android for life. He makes fun of everybody with Apple. Gordon Ryan, same thing, Android for life, and you.

    4. RW

      Yeah.

    5. JR

You don't, you like annoying people. (laughs)

    6. RW

I do. I'm just like, my favorite thing is just breaking Green Bubble. You know?

    7. JR

      (laughs)

    8. RW

And the best is like, I get taken off of group texts. I'm like, "Thank God." (laughs) I hate group texts.

    9. JR

Because they, they, they can't iMessage with you on.

    10. RW

      Yeah, exactly. So I'm like-

    11. JR

      And it's so silly.

    12. RW

... "Oh, take me off. Sweet, awesome. Thank you, I didn't wanna hear that anyways."

    13. JR

Well, there's actually hearings about this now, because, uh, some people are arguing that Apple has created an unfair monopoly on the cellphone world because of the whole Green Bubble, Blue Bubble iMessage thing.

    14. RW

      It's such a psychological...

    15. JR

      Yeah.

    16. RW

It's so weird. People are real attached to that.

    17. JR

Well, it's a status thing with kids. If kids have Android phones, they get mocked. There's some nutty thing, it's like 90% of teenagers have iPhones.

    18. RW

      Really?

    19. JR

'Cause if you have like a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is arguably the best phone on Earth, if you have that phone and you give a Green Bubble, you're looked at less than you have an iPhone X.

    20. RW

'Cause you get a, like special color bubble.

    21. JR

      You get a Blue Bubble.

    22. RW

      Oh, yeah, yeah.

    23. JR

'Cause you're iMessaging. You can have a old-ass iPhone and people will respect you more.

    24. RW

      Yeah, right. (laughs)

    25. JR

Like, you're not that poor. (laughs)

    26. RW

      Yeah. (laughs)

    27. JR

(laughs) But you can't... Literally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is li- uh, listen, forget about fanboy shit, it's the best phone on Earth.

    28. RW

      Yeah.

    29. JR

It's the best phone. It has AI built into the phone that will translate in real time, built into the phone.

    30. RW

      Yep.

  5. 1:00:001:06:23

    Yeah, I noticed that.…

    1. JR

you got weird posture. At the end of the podcast I'll be like, ugh, center of my back will be stiff. So this, these kind of chairs is like ergonomic chairs, they force you to have good posture.

    2. RW

      Yeah, I noticed that.

    3. JR

      Yeah.

    4. RW

      Probably speak better too.

    5. JR

      Probab- eh.

    6. RW

      You-

    7. JR

      Eh.

    8. RW

You know, so like when you're-

    9. JR

      Maybe.

    10. RW

They tell you every time you sit up-

    11. JR

      Yeah.

    12. RW

      ... and project. I don't know.

    13. JR

Yeah, I guess so. Yeah, maybe. I still find myself doing this sometimes, but much more often than I would be, I sit straight.

    14. RW

      Yeah.

    15. JR

And I just support it... 'Cause posture is essentially like a static exercise, that's really what it is. You know, you're just, 'cause you kinda, your body wants to do this, you know.

    16. RW

      Yeah.

    17. JR

But so if you have to static, it's like a static hold.

    18. RW

      Keep it up.

    19. JR

That you keep up all day.

    20. RW

      Yeah.

    21. JR

Yeah. But if you do it, you'll, you're better off.

    22. RW

      Yeah.

    23. JR

      (laughs)

    24. RW

      (laughs)

    25. JR

      And if you do this-

    26. RW

      You hurt less.

    27. JR

... you lean forward, though, you're gonna get a neck problem.

    28. RW

      You are, but-

    29. JR

My daughter used to go to school with this kid and I was always saying, "How does this kid even do this?" 'Cause he always had his chin to his chest. He'd be sitting out in front of the school waiting for his mom to pick him up, and this kid had his chin to his chest like this. Like, uh, he was this skinny kid and his head was, like, flat.

    30. RW

      (laughs)
