Settling in: Special nerves and the “global scale” of the show

    1. JR

Joe Rogan Podcast, check it out.

    2. SP

      The Joe Rogan Experience.

    3. JR

Train by day, Joe Rogan Podcast by night. All day. [upbeat music]

    4. CT

      What's the story?

    5. JR

Good to see you, brother. What's happening?

    6. CT

      I'm great, man.

    7. JR

      Thanks for doing this, man.

    8. CT

      Thanks for having me.

    9. JR

My pleasure. I'm excited to talk to you.

    10. CT

Yeah. So I, I, I was so nervous about my special these last couple of weeks, that I don't even think I was really even thinking about this at all, so it probably kind of worked as a nice distraction.

    11. JR

      [laughs]

    12. CT

'Cause if I didn't have anything else going on, this would've just been over in my head all the time.

    13. JR

Oh, yeah. I know. It fucks people up the first time they do it.

    14. CT

      Yeah.

    15. JR

After you do it a couple times, you're like, "Ugh, it's just, we're just hanging out."

    16. CT

      Yeah, yeah, yeah.

    17. JR

      But in the beginning-

    18. CT

      But this is-

    19. JR

      ... it's a mind fuck

    20. CT

... this is a global scale for me.

    21. JR

      It's-

    22. CT

      This is-

    23. JR

Me too. I try not to think about it. [laughs]

    24. CT

[laughs] Yeah, 'cause all I'm thinking now is, like, we'll say something about fucking-

    25. JR

      100%

    26. CT

      ... Sydney Sweeney's tits.

    27. JR

      [laughs]

    28. CT

And then I gotta get a phone call off my mother. [laughs] I go, "What the-"

  3. 0:56 – 3:32

Sydney Sweeney, beauty politics, and why people react to “power”

    1. JR

Did you see how those women that... They interviewed these women and they, uh, asked them what was, uh, a worse impact on women in society, whether it was Lindy Clancy or Sydney Sweeney, what was worse for women? And they almost like... I mean, I don't know where they went. Obviously, it's a biased sampling group, but all these women were saying Sydney Sweeney.

    2. CT

      Yeah. Really?

    3. JR

      Yeah.

    4. CT

Mm. They, they just wanna cluck each... They wanna just peck each other to death. Is that-

    5. JR

      Exactly. That's what it is.

    6. CT

Yeah, 'cause she really made it out of the swamp.

    7. JR

      [laughs]

    8. CT

She made it out of the swamp.

    9. JR

      Right.

    10. CT

She's, like, as famous as you could possibly be j- just mostly because of her tits, really.

    11. JR

      Yeah.

    12. CT

      It, it-

    13. JR

      You know what I'm saying?

    14. CT

Actually, you know what? I, I always thought she was a good actor in, um-

    15. JR

      She is good

    16. CT

      ... a couple other things.

    17. JR

      Yeah.

    18. CT

      Uh, Euphoria and stuff.

    19. JR

      Uh-huh.

    20. CT

      Yeah, yeah.

    21. JR

She's just too hot. They don't like it.

    22. CT

Yeah. But she's also kinda not, like, crazy strikingly beautiful, so there's something that makes her even more popular, you know?

    23. JR

      Really? You think so?

    24. CT

I think... I don't think she's, like, a catwalk model. She's not like a Victoria's Secret model. She, her face is a little-

    25. JR

Let's take a look at her face.

    26. CT

      Well, I-

    27. JR

      [laughs]

    28. CT

Honestly, I'm not... This is horrible, but I'm not-

    29. JR

      [laughs] You're getting rude.

    30. CT

      I'm not into this. [laughs]

  4. 3:32 – 9:45

Gambling ads, phones, and the nanny-state argument

    1. JR

Well, I think she's probably working with one. Boy, if there's anything that's, like, the most controversial thing in, i- one of the most p- controversial things today is gambling ads and whether or not gambling should be legal. Pe- some people are, like, fully against gambling being legal, and I'm like, boy, I don't understand that.

    2. CT

The, uh, I grew up with gam- uh, gambling's legal in Ireland. It always was.

    3. JR

      Hmm.

    4. CT

But then we had a, like, a, a bookies which was, like, attached to the pub nearly everywhere you'd go. So you'd have to physically go in there and write out-

    5. JR

      Mm-hmm

    6. CT

... a slip, and you could bet on the horses and stuff like that.

    7. JR

      Yeah.

    8. CT

And it seemed to be relatively managed well, but I think, first of all, the phones are a disaster.

    9. JR

      Yeah.

    10. CT

And then you add gambling to the phones.

    11. JR

      Yeah.

    12. CT

I've heard a lot of stories of people, like, throwing shit away, because, because the phones are addictive no matter what, and then they pl-

    13. JR

      Mm-hmm.

    14. CT

You'll be putting a bet on basketball, and it'll go, "Bling! You just won a free, uh, blackjack. Why don't you play blackjack?" And then you'll be there for an hour, and you've lost $500. And-

    15. JR

      Right. Or don't do that.

    16. CT

      Yeah.

    17. JR

That's the thing. It's like, uh, shouldn't you be able to have a balanced life and also bet 500 bucks on a game that you care about?

    18. CT

      Yes.

    19. JR

If you're a regular person with a regular job, and you're not insane-

    20. CT

      Yeah

    21. JR

... and you go, "Oh, shit, the Knicks are playing tonight. I think they're gonna fucking take it. Let's go."

    22. CT

      Yeah.

    23. JR

And you throw a $500 bet on it, and it makes it exciting for you.

    24. CT

      Sure.

    25. JR

You got something riding on it. Come on, fuck yeah!

    26. CT

      Yeah.

    27. JR

Woo! People like that. I don't know why we're supposed to take that away because some people can't control it. And you... Look, I've said this many times.

    28. CT

      It's-

    29. JR

      I've talked about this a ton. I, I s- from the time I was 23 till I was, like, 25, I lived in a pool hall.

    30. CT

      Yeah.

  5. 9:45 – 14:38

Blue laws and bizarre restrictions: booze rules, Sundays, and weird lists

    1. JR

Uh, what remains today, the main surviving Texas blue law restrictions concern alcohol sales and motor vehicle sales. Liquor stores close on Sundays, and car dealers cannot sell vehicles on both Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend. What?

    2. SP

Why? That's why we brought it up.

    3. JR

      Saturday and Sunday-

    4. SP

      Such a weird rule

    5. JR

      ... of the same weekend.

    6. SP

Uh, so those are the only ones that last. There was a... I got into this, 'cause there was a long list of 42 very specific items that weren't allowed to be sold, and it was repealed in, like, the '60s or '80s or something.

    7. JR

      This is for Texas?

    8. SP

This was for Texas. I don't know about for every other state.

    9. JR

      [laughs]

    10. SP

It's just, it's also a very strange list of stuff. Electronics.

    11. JR

So what are the categories removed? These are things you couldn't sell?

    12. SP

      Yeah, you couldn't-

    13. JR

You couldn't sell electronics on Sunday?

    14. SP

      It was repealed in 1985.

    15. JR

How weird is that? Electronics, that's the devil's work.

    16. SP

      Clothing, furniture, kitchen utensils.

    17. JR

      Footwear.

    18. SP

      Appliance.

    19. JR

You can't buy shoes on Sunday.

    20. SP

So you couldn't go shopping, basically.

    21. JR

      Oh.

    22. SP

Or you couldn't buy... I mean, you could go shopping, you couldn't buy any things.

    23. CT

This is, these are old, these are old Texas laws?

    24. JR

      The Jesus laws, son.

    25. CT

      Yeah, got it.

    26. JR

Jesus wants you to not sell guitars on a Sunday.

    27. CT

      [laughs]

    28. JR

There was medic- uh, the, put, put that back up, that list. It's crazy. Musical instruments, recordings, and toys. If your kid wants a fucking toy-

    29. CT

      Sorry

    30. JR

... you can't make your kid happy on a Sunday? They should be happy with Jesus.

  6. 14:38 – 18:03

Comedy in Ireland vs. New York: tough crowds and small scenes

    1. JR

Yeah, yeah, yeah. How long have you been over here for, in America?

    2. CT

I've been here since 2014, so.

    3. JR

Did you start comedy in Ireland?

    4. CT

Yeah, I, I was doing comedy for like two years out there.

    5. JR

What's it like out there? What's the scene?

    6. CT

Small. Not many people out there. So it's like a small... It's like not that easy to make a living. But-

    7. JR

Is, uh, is there clubs, or is it open mics?

    8. CT

There is only really a couple of purposely built clubs. Most rooms are just like a, a, a room above a bar that's been converted, and great.

    9. JR

      Mm-hmm.

    10. CT

And the cl- the crowds are incredible in Ireland. They're small, uh, and they, they're almost like d- doing a black room. 'Cause if you crush, you feel like a king, and if you bomb-

    11. JR

      [laughs]

    12. CT

... you will regret everything that ever led to that. The Irish will, you will bomb at the Irish, and then just quickly someone goes, "Not funny." And then you got 15 more minutes going, "Fuck." And he gets a big laugh, and you go-

    13. JR

      Oh

    14. CT

... "Oh, what about this other thing I saw?" You know?

    15. JR

      Yeah.

    16. CT

But if you're going well, they love you. Yeah. Yeah.

    17. JR

And is, is there a lot of good comics over there?

    18. CT

There's some great comics, yeah. A lot of them don't move out too much. They don't really get out of there.

    19. JR

      That's a problem.

    20. CT

We got a couple of great guys. Well, there was a-

    21. JR

      Really?

    22. CT

Our biggest guy ever is probably Tommy Tiernan.

    23. JR

      I've heard of him.

    24. CT

Tommy was massive, and he used to go all over, and then I think he got rocked for saying... He got, like, one of the first canceled guys back in 2006. He made a joke about, um, if, about Hitler didn't have enough ambition. [laughs]

    25. JR

      [laughs]

    26. CT

And that six million wasn't enough. And then he-

    27. JR

      Oh

    28. CT

... but he said it, like, casually on stage as a joke, and then someone wrote a huge article about it, and then that kind of fucked his whole touring over here. His agents, his managers-

    29. JR

      [laughs]

    30. CT

... everyone dropped him. And then he just goes, "Fuck it, I'll stay in Dublin. I'll stay in Ireland because, uh, I got a fan base here, my family." So Tommy's the best.

  7. 18:03 – 29:30

Tommy Tiernan, cancellation stories, and sliding into Kanye territory

    1. JR

So it's interesting. So he just said, "Fuck it, I'm gonna stay in Ireland"?

    2. CT

      I think so, yeah, yeah.

    3. JR

And he was touring all over the world before that?

    4. CT

He had, yeah, he had like, he was huge. He, big, huge in Canada, big in Australia. He, he was doing the tours in America, had a Comedy Central hour at the time. And then I think it was, like, a post-show live interview type of thing where someone-

    5. JR

      Just one thing fucking around

    6. CT

... someone actually asked the question, it was like, "Can you go too far as a joke?" And he said, "No." And then I think he used that as an example, and some journalist-

    7. JR

      Hmm

    8. CT

... just Cherry picked that and said, "Anti-Semitic," whatever

    9. JR

      Oh, what a cunt

    10. CT

Which is funny, because if he did it today, he'd be a fucking king.

    11. JR

      Right

    12. CT

Because the anti-Semitism's kind of in-

    13. JR

      [laughs]

    14. CT

      ... kind of cool. [laughs]

    15. JR

      It's in vogue.

    16. CT

      It's kind of cool.

    17. JR

      Yeah, it made a comeback.

    18. CT

      It really did, yeah.

    19. JR

As soon as Kanye started selling out stadiums again, everybody was like, "Wow."

    20. CT

      Yeah.

    21. JR

That dude had a diamond-encrusted swastika made. By the way, where do you think he got the diamonds?

    22. CT

      [laughs] Money, money Joe

    23. JR

Think he got them from the Albanians.

    24. CT

      [laughs] He goes, "You what?"

    25. JR

Think he got them from the Italians.

    26. CT

There's gonna be an upcharge on the, on the swastika. [laughs]

    27. JR

      We can make a deal.

    28. CT

      Yeah.

    29. JR

But we have to work something out. Gotta go in through the back door.

    30. CT

      Yeah. So yeah-

  8. 29:30 – 31:39

Cosmetic procedures, aging, and body modifications that backfire

    1. CT

Mm-hmm. That would be my biggest fear probably, to go under the knife trying to be more handsome. And then you come out with, like, a fucking, like a fucked up lip or something

    2. JR

      Right

    3. CT

      You know?

    4. JR

And your face doesn't move. So every time you... You might look okay when you're staring at the mirror, but then as soon as you start talking, your face looks like-

    5. CT

      Yeah

    6. JR

... it's made out of rubber

    7. CT

What's gonna look, what, what are all these, like, young 20-year-olds who are getting Botox gonna look like when they're 40? Are they just gonna have a fucking mask on? Like just-

    8. JR

Well, it's the fillers. The fillers are the real problem. Botox is not great, but it, it's, you're basically putting botulism in your skin, and it can also cause a bunch of other side effects. But I think the real problem is those fillers. Like, some people have to get their face removed and scrape the fillers out

    9. CT

      What?

    10. JR

      Yeah, man. Some, some-

    11. CT

What do you, what do you mean get their face removed? [laughs]

    12. JR

Yeah, you, they literally have to, like, fucking open your face up and remove the fillers. Like, some ladies went a little too far-

    13. CT

Like Peel it back like Terminator?

    14. JR

I don't, I don't know the procedure, but I know that they have to get something in your skin underneath there and suck it all out

    15. CT

      Yeah. Oh

    16. JR

      Depending on the fillers

    17. CT

Some of them look good, though

    18. JR

      With the fillers?

    19. CT

      Well, just with the work

    20. JR

Like with that beast done look?

    21. CT

No, I'm talking, like, what's, what's the oldest Kardashian? The, the queen. The queen of the Kardashians

    22. JR

      Oh, yeah

    23. CT

Not the kids. The, the older lady

    24. JR

Yeah, yeah. What is her name?

    25. CT

      Chris

    26. JR

      Chris, yeah

    27. CT

'Cause sh- I don't know who she's working with, but she must have-

    28. JR

      Some wizard

    29. CT

... she must have a wizard. She has a squad.

    30. JR

      Tommy Tiernan.

  9. 31:39 – 37:08

Trans identity, “perverts,” and policy loopholes around spaces and prisons

    1. JR

Well, I think once you've given up on sex, and then you've kinda... It's also, it's like did Caitlyn Jenner have the, excuse me, bottom surgery? [laughs]

    2. CT

      I don't think so

    3. JR

      Has that been confirmed?

    4. CT

      I don't think so

    5. JR

      I think she did

    6. CT

She walks like she has a cock.

    7. JR

      Yeah, well she used to.

    8. CT

      [laughs] Yeah, yeah

    9. JR

      I think

    10. CT

... you, I guess you don't, uh, adjust. That, that must-

    11. JR

You probably keep the same strut

    12. CT

That must be hard to adjust to not having a cock.

    13. SP

      Yeah, a long time ago

    14. CT

Like you ever get a tooth taken out?

    15. JR

Long time ago had the surgery?

    16. SP

      Yeah. According to her memoir

    17. CT

Yikes. But do you ever get like a tooth taken out or something and like-

    18. JR

      Mm-hmm

    19. CT

... you, it's like weird to adjust to it for a while?

    20. JR

      Mm-hmm. It feels weird

    21. CT

Not having a penis must be fucking... [laughs]

    22. JR

      But now you don't-

    23. CT

      Might take, take a while

    24. JR

... but now you have a tube. You have a hole that you have to keep dilated with a rubber dick

    25. CT

It comes with instructions on how to clean it properly and shit.

    26. JR

      Ah.

    27. CT

Do you ever clean a pocket pussy? It's the most disgusting thing I've ever done in my life. [laughs]

    28. JR

We used to have a sponsorship with a Fleshlight.

    29. CT

Yeah, and but that's the problem is it's all fun and games until you gotta wash it. [laughs]

    30. JR

      [laughs]

  10. 37:08 – 39:14

Losing the accent, being called a fraud, and touring back home

    1. CT

Well, my, my accent's barely Irish anymore. My accent... Everyone, I k- I know for a fact everyone in Ireland is gonna be watching this going, "Fucking stupid American accent. What's he doing?"

    2. JR

      That's crazy.

    3. CT

'Cause it's soft as shit. And it is real soft, 'cause all my friends are Irish, my wife's Irish. Uh, sorry, all my friends are American, my wife's American. I just sort of talk around them. And I podcast so much that you hear the, the accent.

    4. JR

Yeah, but you've got the, the der. Der, there's a der.

    5. CT

      Yeah, there's a

    6. JR

      Taking the der-

    7. CT

      ... stupid shit.

    8. JR

There's a way that Irish people talk-

    9. CT

      Yeah, sure

    10. JR

... that differentiates them from other people with-

    11. CT

And, yeah. And then when I go home I s- I, I, I suck it in. Everyone I'm listening to-

    12. JR

      Mm

    13. CT

... I get it back, it's thick as shit, and then I come back here and no one understands me for a week, and then it just sort of disappears, it floats away.

    14. JR

See, to me you sound very Irish.

    15. CT

      Yeah.

    16. JR

      Yeah.

    17. CT

But to them I sound like a prick. [laughs]

    18. JR

      Really?

    19. CT

      Really. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

    20. JR

      Like you've softened up.

    21. CT

      Softened up a lot.

    22. JR

      Mm.

    23. CT

There's old clips of me on YouTube and stuff where my accent's thick as shit. Conor McGregor style fucking, "What's the story? How's everybody doing?"

    24. JR

      Wow.

    25. CT

And now, now I'm like, "Going to d- put the trash, put the trash out," or whatever.

    26. JR

But even when you're saying, "Put the trash."

    27. CT

Yeah, I guess there's little things in there.

    28. JR

      Yeah.

    29. CT

      Yeah.

    30. JR

      Little, right there.

  11. 39:14 – 44:04

“Raging Aiden”: Colum’s dad, work stress, and quiet desperation

    1. CT

No. Well, it's, it changes. The place changes so much, I don't know. I have stuff about my dad I talk about a lot. I'll talk about my dad a lot. Like, my dad, he's very Irish dad, you know what I mean? And, uh, just like a, he's just like a i- interesting guy. He used to be really angry my whole life, and then one day I think he stopped working, and now he's the nicest guy.

    2. JR

      [laughs]

    3. CT

You know? I think there's something about your, uh, someday your... I think your dad is a mean prick until one day when you're like a, a grownup, and then they just go, "Ah, you're all right," like, they ease, ease off, you know?

    4. JR

Well, one thing that happens, you get out of their house, so they don't have to take care of you anymore.

    5. CT

      They start fucking-

    6. JR

      That changes a lot

    7. CT

... they start riding, start riding again.

    8. JR

      Yeah.

    9. CT

They get the fuck out of the house.

    10. JR

Yeah. They, you get out of their house, and you're not their responsibility anymore, and then they can relax when they're around you.

    11. CT

      Yeah.

    12. JR

And then if you're doing all right with your life, you've developed a career or what have you-

    13. CT

      Yeah

    14. JR

... then they're all right when they're around you.

    15. CT

But my, my d- my friends used to call my... My dad's name is Aiden. My friends used to have a nickname for him called Raging Aiden-

    16. JR

      [laughs]

    17. CT

... 'cause he was just n- such a notorious shithead. And one time we were, we were 18 or 17, we're going to a concert, and two of my friends were in the house. We're just drinking, pre-drinking, and he came home from work or whatever, and he's like, "How's it going?" And he's like raging, and he's like mad, and then he's just... At one point someone made a joke, and he goes, "Get the fuck out of my house, all of yous, get the fuck out of my house." And he grabbed the beers and threw them out into the street. He goes, "Get the fuck out of here." And my friend Bill, he walked off down the road, and then my dad comes out and goes, "Bill, come here. Get back here. Get back here." And he walks all the way up, and he goes, "Get the fuck out of my face."

    18. JR

      [laughs]

    19. CT

[laughs] He just saw red. And that-

    20. JR

Did he just hate his job?

    21. CT

I don't know. Yeah, he used to work as a plumber, so I think he just hated his job. I think he was just stressed about financial shit and everything.

    22. JR

      Yeah.

    23. CT

And now he's, like, retired, and he gardens, and he's this sweet little old pathetic man.

    24. JR

      [laughs]

    25. CT

It's not, he's like a, he's like my, my, my nieces have the best version of him ever.

    26. JR

      Wow.

    27. CT

He's just in the garden all day, just planting, and he'll send me photos of flowers. That's like, I'm like-

    28. JR

      Wow

    29. CT

... "Who is this guy? What happened?"

    30. JR

      Wow.

  12. 44:04 – 54:36

Irish drinking culture, Guinness stories, and famine memory

    1. CT

But, you know, I grew up in Ireland, fistfights all the time.

    2. JR

      Mm-hmm.

    3. CT

So when w- w- the nightclubs used to end at 4:00 in the morning in Dublin City Center, and everyone stayed out till 4:00. It was like, it, it, it was, wasn't even an option to go home before the bar closed, if that makes sense. Though I've never in my life heard of someone going, "Ah, it's 2:00. I better go." And you go, "No, there's two more hours of drinking. We're here-"

    4. JR

      [laughs]

    5. CT

That's, that's just the way it worked. I don't know why. We just love it so much. And we drink-

    6. JR

      What is... Why is that?

    7. CT

I, I think, well, apparently the Vikings used to have to drink a lot of alcohol because that would kill the bacteria in the water. So there's-

    8. JR

      Mm

    9. CT

... I think there's probably some sort of a thing that was just passed down through generations of... Eh, I also think it's probably a whole lot of, uh, repressed fucking trauma over the years that we can only let out w- when we get blackout drunk and puke. [laughs]

    10. JR

      That's-

    11. CT

Uh, that's our therapy, you know?

    12. JR

There are a lot of stories in ancient days of people who drank nothing but beer.

    13. CT

      Yeah.

    14. JR

They just drank beer. That was what they're out- so everyone was drunk all the time.

    15. CT

      Yeah.

    16. JR

Which is really crazy if you think about it.

    17. CT

But like, you, you get to a point where you're kind of, you're not dr- drunk drunk, but you're kind of buzzed-

    18. JR

      Right

    19. CT

... all day, every day. You're just a little bit horny.

    20. JR

      [laughs] Yeah.

    21. CT

      Just a little bit.

    22. JR

And also, like, the, just the liver poisoning. Like-

    23. CT

Yeah, but you're p- probably dying in your 60s back then anyway.

    24. JR

Probably killed by a sword before-

    25. CT

Fucking the honorable way to go

    26. JR

... yeah, before you're ever getting liver-

    27. CT

      Nice

    28. JR

      ... disease.

    29. CT

But they did that at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin too. W- all these guys would, the old coopers would make the, the barrels, and they'd make millions of these per year. And they had a free supply of Guinness to drink all day. So these guys would go to work, and they would drink 12 pints of Guinness all day while they're fucking working. And then after work, they'd go down to the Guinness bar, the pub, and spend their-

    30. JR

      Oh, my

  13. 54:36 – 1:05:44

Israel-Gaza overwhelm, elections, and doomscroll fatigue

    1. CT

I don't think it was great either.

    2. JR

Well, it doesn't seem like it was.

    3. CT

It was great before the English showed up, and then they kind of pushed us off Ireland-

    4. JR

      Yeah

    5. CT

... and everything, but. That's why the Irish love Palestine so much, because they just built in our system or built in our culture of supporting the underdog, I guess.

    6. JR

      Sure.

    7. CT

You know? Um, no matter what the,'s going on, I think we just will naturally side towards the people who are Getting genocided rather than the other people. That's kind of-

    8. JR

Well, I mean, that's kind of across the whole world now.

    9. CT

      Now it is. Now, yeah.

    10. JR

You know, the, the, that's the weird thing about Jewish people in America. That's their... No, there's a lot of people that I know, uh, I love them to death, but they have a blind spot, and that blind spot is their Jewish identity in Israel.

    11. CT

      Yeah.

    12. JR

And they refuse to say it's a, it's a genocide. They refuse to condemn it.

    13. CT

      Yeah.

    14. JR

And they, they come up with reasons why they had to bomb those buildings.

    15. CT

      Of course.

    16. JR

And Hamas did this, and Hamas did that, and October 7th this, and-

    17. CT

Yeah. I'm kind of over it now, though. I kind of wish Israel would just kind of hurry up, wipe them off, so we can move on.

    18. JR

      [snorts]

    19. CT

But I don't think it's... I think it's just, it's going on a little long now, Joe, and I don't think they're gonna change anything, so wipe them out. Wipe out West Bank, and then... Like, why is Macklemore back in my timeline? Because of Israel.

    20. JR

      Yeah.

    21. CT

      So.

    22. JR

Well, because he made that stance.

    23. CT

      Sure.

    24. JR

      And said, "Free Palestine."

    25. CT

But there wouldn't have been a stance to make if Israel would just hurry up and wipe them out.

    26. JR

      Jesus.

    27. CT

'Cause they're not gonna stop. They're not gonna stop. It's gonna just keep going.

    28. JR

      Jesus Christ, Colum.

    29. CT

Don't you think? It's got... Like, do you see a, do you see a solution?

    30. JR

Settle down, lad. Are you trying to be the 2026 Tommy Tiernan?

  14. 1:05:44 – 1:17:09

Surveillance tech, mainstream news distrust, and pharma ad incentives

    1. JR

... toying with the idea of moving away from a smartphone.

    2. SP

Have you seen the stuff about the TVs going on recently?

    3. JR

      Yes.

    4. CT

They call it a dumb phone, right?

    5. JR

Yeah. Smart, Samsung TVs might use the mics of connected devices to listen to you.

    6. CT

They, they, they're definitely listening. 100%.

    7. JR

So people always think it's the phone listening-

    8. CT

      They have to

    9. JR

... but it's every other device around you listening and then-

    10. CT

      Yeah

    11. JR

... sending it to an ad company.

    12. CT

      Yeah.

    13. JR

That's the thing, is, like, there's, there's terms of services, like, that you sign up for when you, uh, click accept.

    14. CT

      Mm-hmm.

    15. JR

And you don't even read those fucking things. And some of them, like the TikTok one, is insane.

    16. CT

      Yeah.

    17. JR

I don't know if it is insane now, but the old TikTok one was TikTok, if you had a phone and that phone had TikTok on it, TikTok was allowed to have access to the other computers that are on the network that don't have TikTok on them.

    18. CT

      Yeah.

    19. JR

So you're essentially allowing whatever that program is, whatever the software is-

    20. CT

      Mm-hmm

    21. JR

... to access passwords, keystrokes, your microphone, all kinds of wild shit.

    22. CT

      Yeah.

    23. JR

It's like some security expert looked at it and said it is one of the worst pieces of software I've ever read, or ever looked into.

    24. CT

This was, these are the new guys who bought it, and then they s- is it?

    25. JR

      No, this was before.

    26. CT

      This is the old guys-

    27. JR

      This was before

    28. CT

... who had, who was forced to sell it.

    29. JR

      And now it's owned by-

    30. CT

The old Chinese guys or whatever.

  15. 1:17:09 – 1:44:53

Bigfoot maps to solo hikes: chasing the wild and why nature feels like therapy

    1. JR

Okay? W- [laughs] Do you have a, is that a Bigfoot T-shirt?

    2. CT

      It's a Sasquatch fucking shirt.

    3. JR

      Oh.

    4. CT

I went to Mount Rushmore. I, I, buddy, I'm the ultimate tourist. I'll do it all.

    5. JR

      Yeah?

    6. CT

I love it. I love going to fucking Buc-ee's and, and to getting a photo with the mascot. I went to Mount Rushmore. I did a b- and one of the best trips of my life last summer. I, I, I, I r- I heard about how beautiful Montana is and everything, so I fucking worked with my agent to g- like, we went Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, which is probably the most beautiful place in fucking America.

    7. JR

      Pretty gorgeous out there.

    8. CT

All up there. And now I've got the b- so we went everywhere, but over there, which is, like, I think Rapid City? Is it closest to... Rapid City's nice, but then they've got the, like, the Black Mountains, um, out there.

    9. JR

      Mm.

    10. CT

The Black Forest Mountains. It's just beautiful out there. Beautiful. So that's all I wanna do now.

    11. JR

Is there supposedly Bigfoot sightings near Mount Rushmore?

    12. CT

      I don't think there is.

    13. JR

      [laughs]

    14. CT

That's the funny thing about it. I think I just, it was the, the only thing that didn't say, like, "I heart fucking Mount Rushmore," so I was, I wanted a shirt, and I was like, "This'll kinda do," a Sasquatch type of a Mount Rushmore shirt, but.

    15. JR

That's a special kind of person, the person who really loves Bigfoot.

    16. CT

I'd love to go to these places and do a little hunting.

    17. JR

      Duncan and I did it.

    18. CT

You went looking for it, the guys?

    19. JR

Yeah, Duncan Trussell and I. I had a show back in 2011 or '12 called Joe Rogan Questions Everything.

    20. CT

      Yeah.

    21. JR

And one of the things we, we, like, let's do a deep dive on s- chemtrails. Let's do a deep dive on UFOs. Let's do a deep dive... And so we did a deep dive on, uh, Bigfoot hunters. So we went and met people that met Bigfoot. We took, a lot of it is in the Pacific Northwest.

    22. CT

Yeah, that's the hot, that's the hotbed.

    23. JR

Yeah. Also, a lot of meth.

    24. CT

      [laughs]

    25. JR

A lot of meth, a lot of Sasquatch. [laughs]

    26. CT

      [laughs]

    27. JR

A lot of heroin, a lot of Sasquatch.

    28. CT

      There is a car.

    29. JR

      Are these the Bigfoot sightings?

    30. SP

Yeah, look where the big clump is here.

  16. 1:44:53 – 1:53:12

Stars, Big Bend LSD, YMCA in the tent, and the Trump pop-culture pipeline

    1. CT

You guys, we, we, me and a few comics last week went out to Big Bend, one of the most fun things we've ever done.

    2. JR

      In Oregon?

    3. CT

      Uh, no.

    4. JR

      Sorry.

    5. CT

      Uh, no, Big Bend.

    6. JR

      Where's that?

    7. CT

      Here.

    8. JR

      Oh, Big Bend?

    9. CT

      Big Bend National Park.

    10. JR

      Oh, okay.

    11. CT

It's in South Texas. It's the, it's like the darkest region of-

    12. JR

      Oh

    13. CT

      ... um-

    14. JR

That's the darkest region? South Texas?

    15. CT

One of, one of them. Yeah, down there.

    16. JR

      Yeah.

    17. CT

So it's a designated night place, so all the lights go off.

    18. JR

      Oh.

    19. CT

But we went out there. Yeah, that's exactly where we stayed, at the Chisos Mountains.

    20. JR

Fuck, look how beautiful that is.

    21. CT

It's fucking insane how nice it is out there, and there was tarantulas walking around and shit-

    22. JR

      Ooh

    23. CT

... 'cause it's mating season. They came over. They were climbing on our shit and stuff.

    24. JR

      Oh, mating season.

    25. CT

Nah, it's so cool. It was fucking cool. But I lo- so we sat out at night. The sunset would go down, and we would watch the, the, the stars come out, and we would sit there for seven hours just staring at back, leaning back in our Tommy Bahama chairs.

    26. JR

      Wow.

    27. CT

      We did a little LSD-

    28. JR

      Mm

    29. CT

... and then just looked at the stars all night. It was one of the most insane things I've ever done. But I've ne- I'd, after that, I feel like I'd, I'd never seen the sky truly until I went out there.

    30. JR

      Right.

  17. 1:53:12 – 2:17:44

Trump’s Bill Maher screed, meme coins, and how “legal” can still feel corrupt

    1. CT

      Nice.

    2. JR

And we're back. Where were we? YMCA.

    3. CT

      Wow, wow, wow, wow.

    4. JR

Nicki Minaj's ass. Let me see that. Can we see the video?

    5. CT

Pull up Nicki's ass, Dave. [laughs]

    6. JR

Did you see the breakup letter he wrote to Bill Maher?

    7. CT

      No.

    8. JR

      [laughs]

    9. CT

Trump did? Trump penned a letter?

    10. JR

It's a breakup letter. [laughs] It's like, uh, a girl who got dumped, who's like, "Fuck him," and, "He's always a loser," and, like, that kind of thing.

    11. CT

      [laughs]

    12. JR

      It was really crazy.

    13. CT

But Bill Maher was, like, anti-Trump, and then he fucking had dinner with him, and then he's like-

    14. JR

      A couple times

    15. CT

      ... great guy.

    16. JR

And had dinner with him recently, and then went on his show. And I guess he said some things about how Trump is losing support in the polls or whatever it was. And Trump wrote this long fucking screed, this scroll that he put on Truth Social about, uh, Bill Maher's a fucking loser, and he was like, he was drunk at the White House. He needed a drink.

    17. CT

      Yeah.

    18. JR

      Like, it's...

    19. CT

It's just, and he, he, he-

    20. JR

      Whew

    21. CT

... he is a gift that does not stop giving-

    22. JR

      Yeah, he does

    23. CT

... even if you don't want the gift, you know?

    24. JR

      [laughs]

    25. SP

Well, there s- there seems to be two things. This doesn't have her in it, but this is definitely a quote he said-

    26. JR

      Okay

    27. SP

      ... about her from the-

    28. JR

      Is it, is it her?

    29. CT

I'm studying him, and then I made the mistake. I told, in fun, I said, "I looked at his ass," and I've never done that with a man before. It's true. [laughs] Off the record, women yes, men no, okay?

    30. CT

      [laughs]
