EVERY SPOKEN WORD

  1. 0:0015:00

    "Youssef, you're a doctor,…

    1. JF

"Youssef, you're a doctor, mate. I want abs by next Monday. Can you, can you sort that?" There's nothing we can do. But give us the right fitness client, get you shredded.

    2. CW

I'm an in-gym PT. I'm (censored) sick of this.

    3. JF

      Mm-hmm.

    4. CW

Sick of my clients giving me the flu. I want to work in my socks and my pants. I don't want to do this anymore. We have an hour for you to explain to people, should they go online? Do they need to have PT experience first? How do they do it? And give us your best stories.

    5. JF

      Don't build a program, don't get a website, don't make a logo.

    6. CW

You guys work in an industry of charlatans. Why?

    7. JF

It, it's just, it's money, it's profit. But it says personal trainer on your back, so everybody in your gym thinks, "That's the guy I gotta speak to."

    8. CW

Hi, person with personal trainer on their T-shirt.

    9. JF

      (laughs)

    10. CW

      I want a personal trainer.

    11. JF

      Exactly.

    12. CW

Nowhere else on the planet does that happen.

    13. JF

When you move into the internet, really anybody is a client because most people, or in Yousef's world, everybody has a bodybuilding goal, they just don't realize it.

    14. CW

Are you more talented at coaching coaches, or are you more talented at coaching clients?

    15. JF

      I think...

    16. CW

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. I'm joined by Dr. Ned Flanders...

    17. YF

      Highly holy. (laughs)

    18. CW

      (laughs) And Johnny from Yousef.

    19. JF

      Johnny from ... (laughs)

    20. CW

Johnny from Yousef. Johnny and Yousef from Propain Fitness.

    21. JF

Did you, did you mean to do that?

    22. CW

      No.

    23. JF

      (laughs) That's incredible.

    24. CW

Johnny from Yousef, and Yousef who looks like Ned Flanders. To the people that are listening, Yousef has grown a mustache for Movember and he looks...

    25. YF

I've been likened to every famous figure with a mustache over the month.

    26. JF

      Apart from Captain Hook.

    27. CW

      Tom Selleck.

    28. JF

      Have you had Captain Hook?

    29. CW

      Captain Hook?

    30. JF

You are very Captain Hook at the moment actually.

  2. 15:0030:00

    An online painter? (laughs)…

    1. YF

job, so yeah, counselor, painter, therapist, beautician.

    2. CW

      An online painter? (laughs)

    3. YF

Well, th- s- so, like, anything where, where the-

    4. JF

(laughs) That's the worst example. (laughs)

    5. YF

      (laughs) I'll explain.

    6. CW

      (laughs)

    7. YF

So, so an- an- anything where there, there is a potential to be working with an institution or working on your own basis.

    8. CW

Oh, I see. Understood, got it.

    9. YF

So, so either with a PT, if you, if you're ch- choosing to be purely offline, then you're either, yeah, working with the institution of Pure Gym, or you have your own personal brand that you've built, and then you can bring people into that-

    10. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    11. YF

... and then you offer whatever you want with that. If you're a painter, you can't do a lot online unless you go into, like, information products, but we don't know how, what the market is like for information products for painters.

    12. CW

How to be a painter. (laughs)

    13. YF

How to be a painter. Be, like, a handyman or something. But what you can do is leverage your time and use that expertise to say, "Right, I'm gonna build a team around me and take, take, like, a huge-"

    14. CW

Teach them how to be painters.

    15. YF

      Mm-hmm.

    16. JF

      (laughs)

    17. YF

      Like, a huge-

    18. CW

      Focus on BDM.

    19. YF

Yeah. B- is that, that where you-

    20. CW

      Business development.

    21. YF

... you put a ball in, ball in your mouth-

    22. CW

      BDSF. (laughs)

    23. YF

... and you have to whip each other? Um, so if you're a, if you're a handyman, the, the biggest market I see, and I'm sure you, you'll have experienced this pa- Well, actually, we've all, we've all experienced this pain horribly, is there's a huge gap for PAs for handymen or for builders, where they would just tell them, "Right, you're here on Tuesday, you're there on Thursday. That's where you go."

    24. CW

So effortful, the discussion backwards and forwards with anyone who's in that handyman, plumber, painter, carpenter, fucking electrician thing. Like-

    25. YF

      Trades.

    26. CW

... ring the person, "Hi, mate."

    27. JF

      (laughs)

    28. CW

      "Can you do this job?"

    29. JF

      Mm-hmm.

    30. CW

"Um, are you available at this time?"

  3. 30:0045:00

    Well, yeah, I mean-…

    1. CW

is augmenting his existing offline income.

    2. YF

      Well, yeah, I mean-

    3. JF

      Exactly.

    4. YF

... I mean, we've had many people that we've worked with that have, you know, doubled or tripled or, or like, uh, in one ca- a couple of cases, like six, seven times their-

    5. CW

      (laughs)

    6. YF

... their income to, like, sort of ten, ten, fifteen grand a month. But they still want to do some offline personal training stuff.

    7. CW

Yeah. I think I would as well.

    8. YF

      Just to help. Yeah.

    9. JF

      Yeah, just-

    10. CW

I'd want to keep my foot in the thing. I'd have some clients that I'd be mates with.

    11. JF

      (clears throat)

    12. YF

They just want to keep their foot in the thing.

    13. CW

      Foot in the thing.

    14. YF

      (laughs) Yeah.

    15. JF

      Yeah.

    16. YF

Just, um, foot on the ground and, and, like, have some lev- 'cause they get some level of satisfaction from it. And what's better is that they can then handpick the best...... offline clients that they have-

    17. CW

      Oh, yeah.

    18. YF

... charge a higher rate, and just sack off the pain-in-the-arse ones-

    19. CW

      Mm.

    20. YF

... and then just focus on-

    21. CW

      Cool.

    22. YF

      ... their online work, so-

    23. CW

Who else, who else have you been to see? So you have this Eric Elmsley. What about ... what are some of the other things that people should be concerned about before they sign up to a seminar?

    24. JF

      Oh my God.

    25. CW

      Like-

    26. JF

Where to begin with that? Like, s- some of the thing, some of the situations I've been in with Yusef, like ... So, it's hard to describe because you have to ... The more you know Yusef, the funnier the whole thing is, but-

    27. CW

      (laughs)

    28. JF

It ... Yusef is ... You gotta remember, the sort of guy who went to Blyth. Is it Blyth? Where do you go-

    29. CW

      To be in a cult.

    30. JF

... to be in a cult, where he ended up lying down on the ground because everyone around him was dancing, and he didn't get it. But he still went for 12 weeks. So like, if someone says, "This is the way to do it, Yusef," he'll do it. The, the first business coach we hired told us to, um ... Basically, we, we did like, a boosted post Facebook ad, which is not never, you know-

  4. 45:001:00:00

    Mm-hmm. …

    1. YF

Smith is a very, is like a sexually desirable man-

    2. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    3. YF

... and so a lot of, like, a lot of women like him, and so they go for ... they, they, they, they message him. They see him as an authority in that, so he's like, "Right, I'm just gonna, I'm gonna double down on this."

    4. JF

'Cause you were saying that because James has got the mustache, you'll do the mustache, 'cause-

    5. YF

      It's, it's exactly that, yeah.

    6. JF

You're hoping he messages you, aren't you?

    7. YF

      Hoping he messages me.

    8. JF

      Yeah. Okay.

    9. YF

      Asks, asks for coaching.

    10. JF

And then you meet up ... yeah.

    11. YF

      And then, yeah. (laughs)

    12. JF

Then you can meet up with him, yeah.

    13. YF

      (laughs)

    14. JF

Um, so w- the, the, the ... a good example of this, a gu- a client last week launched his sales, uh, funnel for his, his program that was men only, and more women bought than men.

    15. YF

      (laughs)

    16. JF

Like, so, you know, that (laughs) ... he advertised it as a male program, but he had (laughs) more female sign-ups than male sign-ups.

    17. CW

      Does this ever happen-

    18. JF

Which is like the market going, "Hi."

    19. CW

      (laughs)

    20. JF

"This is, this is the right thing to do."

    21. YF

      (laughs)

    22. JF

So he was saying to me, like, "Do you think I should rebrand it, or ... ?" And I was like, "Well, hmm ... gut instinct. What would, what would you, what would you say?" (laughs) So yeah, like, s- there are exceptions to that, definitely. But the first thing to do, build a sales funnel. Like, build a webinar, build a challenge, an email series, something like that, that positions you as an authority, gets you to show off a little bit about what you know and how you can help people, and offer your program as a, like a beta launch at the end of it.

    23. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    24. JF

It's like, "I'm doing this program. I want ..." And pick a reasonable number of people-

    25. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    26. JF

... like, 20 or whatever's reasonable, "um, for half price, and I just want some feedback."

    27. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    28. JF

"I want you to help me build it. I want, ideally, a testimonial."

    29. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    30. JF

And then the program that you build is what they wanted, rather than, like, what Eric Helms spoke to you about carb cycling and period management at a, at a seminar. 'Cause that, that's what everybody focuses on.

  5. 1:00:001:05:48

    And do you know…

    1. JF

      a lot. Yeah.

    2. CW

And do you know what it is? Tough time today. Douglas Murray, Douglas Murray said alm-... He said two sentences and make sure it's a question. And there's still people- Mm-hmm. ... that stand up and go, "Yes, Douglas, um."

    3. JF

      Oh, no.

    4. CW

"I- I- I wondered... I wondered, first off, uh, thank you. Thank you for coming." Yeah. "I'm- I'm all- I'm all for thank yous. First off, uh, obviously we are in Westminster tonight." It's like, "Fuck, mate, what is this?"

    5. JF

      We're no-

    6. CW

"Is this the opening night at the Proms or something?"

    7. JF

We're on planet Earth and- (laughs) ... uh, it's the current summer season.

    8. CW

Thanks for the framing, mate. I've only been here for-

    9. JF

It's not- it's not working. This is your life, like...

    10. CW

We've been here for two hours listening to him and Lionel Shriver talk about, like, the nuances of identity politics for you to remind me that I'm in Westminster.

    11. JF

      (laughs) Oh, my God. That-

    12. CW

      Oh, am I?

    13. JF

... is so annoying. I think I'd throw something. Just really strain me. Yeah. You'd strain. You should just have, like, a bag of marbles, shouldn't you? And you're allowed to throw a marble-

    14. CW

      Yeah.

    15. JF

      ... every time that's... (laughs)

    16. CW

Have you ever seen this before? So, he had this thing where there was people with numbers in different areas of the room, and it was like number one, two, three, four, five, si-... all the way around. And he would just pick a number and then they- that person would go... It was like he delegated-

    17. JF

It's very Derren Brown, isn't it?

    18. CW

Yeah, very Derren Brown. He delegated out the web. But it was like, "This... One from this section and one from this section and one from that section."

    19. JF

      Mm-hmm.

    20. CW

I'm like, "Mate, really? This- this kind of..."... vision of, uh, s- representativeness that you're giving out here, doesn't matter.

    21. JF

      It might as well-

    22. CW

Just do everyone in that row-

    23. JF

      Yeah.

    24. CW

      ... like, just do- (laughs)

    25. JF

Don't make it more complicated than it, than it needs to be.

    26. CW

Than it needs to be. Um, okay, so-

    27. JF

We should get Derren Brown on the podcast.

    28. YF

      Hmm.

    29. CW

That'd be great. It'd be good.

    30. JF

      And-
