Robert Greene's podcast appearances: which to watch and why
Updated November 3, 2026 · 14 episodes on 8 shows · Latest: Lewis Howes's show and Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman, November 2, 2026
Robert Greene's podcast conversations cover the subjects of his books: power, seduction, strategy, human nature and finding your life's task. The earliest here, from June 6, 2019 and October 11, 2021, walk through The Laws of Human Nature and The Daily Laws. From March 23, 2023 on, every episode mentions his 2018 stroke. The book he wrote by hand after it, The Law of the Sublime, comes up in every episode from December 4, 2023 on, and the three most recent are almost entirely about it. This guide shows where to start, the best stretches to watch, what each episode teaches and which stories he tells on more than one show.
If you watch one
The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (March 23, 2023). Steven Bartlett walks through Greene's books in order, from The 48 Laws of Power to The Art of Seduction to Mastery, and Greene answers with stories and specifics: what power really is, why vulnerability attracts and insecurity repels, which first job to take. Its last half hour turns to a candid account of his stroke and how he copes. No other episode here walks through his books one by one.
Or start with
- New to his ideas and short on time: The Jefferson Fisher Podcast (December 9, 2025). In 44 min he covers what power is, strategic communication and spotting manipulators, plus a short preview of The Law of the Sublime.
- Stuck on your direction: My First Million (August 28, 2025). He lays out a week of handwritten journaling for finding your life's task, from lists of what you love and hate to digging into your childhood (10:16 to 21:24, 11 min; watch).
- Curious about his newest book: Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026). A walk through The Law of the Sublime, with exercises you can try, such as Gurdjieff's Self-Remembering (18:11 to 29:56, 12 min; watch).
The Robert Greene crash course
Eight stretches from eight episodes: power first, then other people, then your own path, then the later Greene.
1. What power is, 0:50 to 8:01, 7 min (watch) of The Jefferson Fisher Podcast (December 9, 2025): power as control that starts with your own emotions, and why announcing what you want is weak communication.
2. Absence and desire, 34:41 to 43:46, 9 min (watch) of Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 11, 2021): why stepping back makes people think about you, and how desire spreads by imitation.
3. Narcissism and listening, 9:29 to 21:29, 12 min (watch) of Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (June 6, 2019): his scale of narcissism from 0 to 100, the dead-eyes warning sign, and why we don't really listen.
4. Envy, 46:54 to 54:01, 7 min (watch) of The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (February 27, 2025): why a brain that learns by comparing makes envy universal, and two ways to put it to use.
5. Finding your life's task, 8:26 to 18:00, 10 min (watch) of Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023): how childhood pulls point to your calling, what drowns them out, and why emotional engagement speeds learning.
6. Using pressure, 1:06:48 to 1:17:09, 10 min (watch) of Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (September 16, 2024): why he thinks boredom is more dangerous than stress, and Edison's public promise to light New York.
7. What the stroke did to his mind, 1:23:54 to 1:29:35, 6 min (watch) of Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026): the crying, ecstasy and new empathy after his stroke, and why he chose to treat it as a blessing.
8. Why adults lose wonder, 4:48 to 14:21, 10 min (watch) of Lewis Howes's show (November 2, 2026): the core of his newest book, how a child's attention goes to the world and an adult's to the self.
Total: about 71 minutes.
Greene on ...
Robert Greene on power
Greene treats power as a neutral tool and a universal need, a sense of control over yourself and your circumstances. As he puts it on The Jefferson Fisher Podcast (December 9, 2025): “power is a tool. It's totally neutral. Like a hammer, you can use it to build a house or you could clobber someone over the head and kill them with it.” (1:10). Feeling powerless, he argues, corrupts more than power does, and most of The 48 Laws of Power, he says on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023), is defense, against the sharks and against classic mistakes like outshining the master (51:01). He goes deepest on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (March 23, 2023) (11:50 to 22:23), where he says he wouldn't write the book now but stands by it (11:38).
Robert Greene on seduction and love
Greene calls seduction a high form of power, because giving people pleasure lowers their resistance where orders breed resentment, and he insists The Art of Seduction is psychology, not a pickup-artist manual. The great seducer is absorbed in the other person, and vulnerability attracts where insecurity repels. He goes deepest on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (March 23, 2023) (42:14 to 1:02:54).
The Law of the Sublime has a chapter on love, which he treats as a separate subject, not a change of mind. On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023), before the book came out, he called that chapter something like the antithesis of The Art of Seduction (1:14:01). On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) he says that when people ask whether he has changed, his answer is no: love is simply a different subject from seduction (1:37:14), one that asks you to drop your defenses: “You're letting go of your defenses, and you're being vulnerable like an animal that's exposing its belly, and that's a frightening experience.” (1:39:30).
Robert Greene on finding your life's task
Greene's method starts in childhood: the strong pulls you felt as a small child (he borrows Maslow's term, impulse voices) point to your life's task until parents, teachers and social media drown them out. Dig them up like an archaeologist, list what you love and what you hate, read frustration as a sign of a wrong path, and chase skills over money. On The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (February 27, 2025) he says: “Skills are the gold of the 21st century, and if you're seduced by money, if you think about money, you're doomed” (21:19). He goes deepest on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023) (8:47 to 31:48) and gives the same method on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) (1:16:34 to 1:23:31, 7 min; watch).
Robert Greene on narcissism, envy and reading people
On Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (June 6, 2019), Greene says everyone sits somewhere on a scale of narcissism, rising toward empathy when secure and sinking into self-absorption when not; deep narcissists never built self-love as children, and their tell is dead eyes (9:45 to 18:07). He includes himself: “I had to realize I'm not as great a person as I thought I was. I'm actually more of a narcissist than I imagined.” (55:41). On The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett (February 27, 2025) he calls envy the trait nobody admits, and suggests turning it into emulation or into what Nietzsche called mitfreude, joy at other people's success (46:54 to 54:01). On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023) he says that in reading people, the voice is, as actors will tell you, about the hardest thing to fake (2:17:43 to 2:32:19, 15 min; watch).
Robert Greene on masculinity
Greene argues that young men are told their competitive drive is bad, when the answer is to discipline and channel it, as he channels his own aggression into his books. His model is quiet inner strength: self-control and treating women well, while boasting about money and women signals insecurity. He makes the case on Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (September 16, 2024) (1:52:57 to 2:00:26), where he says: “You can respect women, and respecting them is a sign of your strength, it's a sign of being secure in your masculinity.” (1:54:50).
Robert Greene on AI
Greene's view is that AI changes the tools, not human nature. Asked about AI and jobs on The Calum Johnson Show (June 29, 2026) (42:03 to 53:24), he tells workers to become irreplaceable, and says: “So the technology alters the game, no doubt. But the game is still the game of power.” (47:31). On Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 12, 2026) he expects AI to go the way of the internet, from promise to abuse: “AI might be different, but human nature doesn't change, and it, it, they're gonna pervert this.” (1:23:59). On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) he calls it a programmed machine, not a conscious one (28:49).
His worry about what it does to thinking hasn't changed. He goes deepest into it on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023) (2:32:38 to 2:44:22), warning that ChatGPT lets you skip the struggle that builds thinking. On Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 12, 2026) he says he uses ChatGPT sometimes to look things up, but wants you to be aware of how it deadens you (2:10:02).
Robert Greene on his stroke
Greene's fullest account of his stroke is on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (December 4, 2023) (2:45:35 to 3:06:39, 21 min; watch). On August 17, 2018, he was driving when his wife told him to pull over; a blood clot was cutting off blood to his brain, and she called 911 (2:46:55). In his account it followed a perfect storm of exhaustion, blood pressure medication left at home, a wasp sting and prednisone. It left him unable to type and walking with difficulty; he says it taught him patience and to savor small things. On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) he says he chose to see it as a blessing: “if I see it as a curse, I become a bitter person and I just shrivel up. But if I see it as a blessing, it's a much different experience” (1:27:08).
Robert Greene on the sublime
For Greene, the sublime is any experience that takes you past the limits your culture and your brain set on what you notice. On Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (September 16, 2024) he calls it a mix of opposites: “the sublime is an unusual thing because it's a combination of pain and pleasure, of awe and terror” (2:03:18). Children live close to it because their brains filter less; adults lose it to ego and screens, then chase a false sublime of drugs, porn and Marvel movies. The Law of the Sublime offers exercises for finding it in daily life. He goes deepest on Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 12, 2026) (1:54 to 31:59); the book first comes up here on Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 11, 2021), while he was writing it (58:32).
Lately
The three most recent episodes here, from October 12, 2026 and November 2, 2026, are launch conversations for The Law of the Sublime, and power and seduction tactics barely come up. Earlier episodes previewed the book; these walk through it. On Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) he notes that, unlike in his other books, every chapter ends with exercises (7:05). The biggest new ground is religion and myth. On Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson (October 12, 2026) he says he has always felt pagan (1:28:16). On Lewis Howes's show (November 2, 2026) he describes the Greek gods as forces of nature (1:03:39) and says that even if there is a God, it can only be experienced, not known (1:00:24); he also retells a near-death case and wonders whether consciousness exists outside the brain, while declining to say such experiences prove an afterlife (50:40). Looking ahead, on Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman (November 2, 2026) he says he is toying with two ideas for his next book (2:11:14): fiction about the tech world, or this: “it's gonna be a shorter book, and it's gonna be about negative space, about seeing what's not there as opposed to what's there, what's missing in the picture” (2:13:14).

What others say about him
- Andrew Huberman, a guest on Modern Wisdom in 2022, called Greene a great mentor he had never met: “I believe that we are all born fundamentally with some gift, and it's our job to reveal that gift to ourselves. And, you know, here I'm r- I want to thoroughly acknowledge someone else who's been a great mentor without ever meeting him, is, uh, Robert Greene, I think is a f-, is a wonderful-” (Andrew Huberman, Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson, July 7, 2022, at 2:26:35)
- Evan LaPointe, a guest on Lenny's Podcast, recommends the whole library and calls Greene a little darker of an author: “And then, again, Robert Greene's whole library is super valuable, especially Human Nature, if you're into kind of that. He's a little darker of an author, certainly kind of doesn't pull punches about human nature.” (Evan LaPointe, Lenny's Podcast with Lenny Rachitsky, August 11, 2024, at 2:10:13)
- Patrick Bet-David, a guest on Modern Wisdom, on how often he listened to The 33 Strategies of War: “You and I have somebody we both respect a lot, Robert Greene.
