In this episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring Narrator and Narrator, Joe Rogan Experience #2246 - James Fox explores uFOs, drones, and disclosure: James Fox unpacks modern UAP mystery Joe Rogan and UFO filmmaker James Fox discuss the recent wave of SUV‑sized “drones” appearing over US cities and military bases, and whether they may actually be UAPs the government can’t explain. Fox details multiple military encounters with enormous, silent craft, underwater transmedium objects, and alleged crash‑retrieval programs, including the testimony of whistleblower David Grusch. They also examine a famous Calvine UFO photograph, historical mass sightings like the Phoenix Lights, and the political and psychological complications of full government disclosure. Throughout, they explore whether some small fraction of UAP incidents likely represent non‑human intelligence and why the government still tightly controls the most compelling evidence.
UFOs, drones, and disclosure: James Fox unpacks modern UAP mystery
Joe Rogan and UFO filmmaker James Fox discuss the recent wave of SUV‑sized “drones” appearing over US cities and military bases, and whether they may actually be UAPs the government can’t explain.
Key Takeaways
A significant portion of recent ‘drone’ sightings remain unexplained even to insiders.
While some of the recent SUV‑sized objects over places like New Jersey and military bases appear to be conventional drones, credible sources like Christopher Mellon and US officials say others exhibit unusual behavior, long loiter times, and oceanic origins that current tech cannot fully account for.

Multiple military witnesses describe enormous, silent craft with impossible performance.
Fox cites cases like the Vandenberg ‘red square’, the Stephenville, Texas giant craft, and officers describing football‑field‑sized or larger objects hovering over bases and missile fields, moving silently, and then accelerating instantaneously—matching patterns seen in the Tic Tac incident.

Whistleblower David Grusch’s claims align with decades of field research, according to Fox.
Fox argues that Grusch’s sworn testimony about a crash‑retrieval program and non‑human biologics is consistent with independent investigations he’s done worldwide into alleged crashes and close encounters, which is why he finds Grusch credible despite the lack of public hard proof.

High‑quality evidence likely exists but is tightly compartmentalized in classified systems.
An anonymous Navy source in Fox’s film points to specific classified networks (SIPR, JWICS, SCIFs) where the best UAP data is stored, suggesting Congress and the public only see the least sensitive material while compelling radar, satellite, and imagery data remain hidden.

Government reluctance to disclose may be driven by fear and perceived loss of control.
Fox relays a general’s perspective: admitting craft of unknown origin can penetrate airspace with impunity, and that we have no defense against them, would shatter public confidence and political legitimacy—offering a practical reason for decades of secrecy.

The Calvine photograph is one of the strongest visual UFO cases ever uncovered.
A long‑suppressed 1990 Scottish photo shows a large diamond‑shaped craft with a Harrier jet in the frame, backed by testimony from an RAF press officer and a coworker of the original photographers, who claims they were intimidated by men in suits and then disappeared.

Disclosure is happening slowly via hearings and leaks, not a single ‘big reveal.’
Rogan and Fox note we’ve gone from official denial to multiple congressional hearings where UAP reality and crash‑retrieval claims are discussed under oath. ...

Notable Quotes
““You’re telling me people have come forward claiming firsthand knowledge of craft of non-human origin? – That’s correct.””
— David Grusch (clip in The Program, cited by James Fox)
““My experiences with UAP were awe-inspiring, exciting, and terrifying. I don’t know why UAP are flying over our bases and our neighborhoods, but I do know the UAP phenomenon is of the utmost importance to all of humanity.””
— Jeff Nucitelli, former USAF Technical Sergeant (statement read by James Fox)
““If you don’t understand it and you can’t protect people from it… just describing it accurately removes all confidence that our government has everything under control.””
— James Fox
““If the phenomenon wanted to end this secrecy once and for all, all they’d have to do is hover over the Macy’s Day Parade or the next big Super Bowl. They don’t do that.””
— James Fox
““If it’s true that we have spaceships and we have biologics… that is not just implications for the United States, that’s global implications. The human race deserves to know.””
— Joe Rogan

It's a very good time to have a U-expo, uh- UFO expert in.
A lot has been going on.
(laughs) This is ... It, w- you know, I had, um ... I know you ran into him. Uh, I had Ryan Graves on yesterday.
Oh my God, it'll tell you the funny story-
Yeah.
... of how I ran into him.
You ran into him in the lobby of the hotel, right?
So the lobby told me, they were all like, "Don't use this one elevator. It's really rickety and it makes a lot of noise and it's just, it's not very reliable, and just don't use it." So I didn't. And then I was leaving 24 hours later to come down and get some coffee. And I was like, "Ah, fuck it. Let me take the rickety elevator." I was like, "They told me not to take it, but I'm gonna take it anyway." So I push the button, I'm standing there and I hear this (imitates door creaking open) . The door's open, I look, I see this shadowy figure in the corner. I'm like, "Ryan Graves, what are you doing?"
(laughs)
He goes, "I don't know. What are you doing?"
(laughs)
(laughs) I was like, "Um," I was like, "Are you doing what I think you're doing?" He goes, "Yeah." (laughs)
That's hilarious.
Did he tell you that? Did he tell you that?
Yes he did, yes he did. He told me he ran into you.
Oh, that's so ...
He didn't tell me the whole story about the rickety elevator.
Yeah, yeah. He was like this shadowy figure up against the corner, like kind of just, you know. And looking at him and he's looking at me. It was really funny.
We had a lot of ... We talked a lot of nonsense about, uh, aliens. Uh, but we also talked about the technology that he knows is state of the art when it comes to drones.
Yes.
And that some of these ones in New Jersey, they're doing things that you can't really do yet.
Yes.
Yeah, which is really fascinating.
Yes.
'Cause it's like, okay-
And they're the size of SUVs.
Right. So is it ours and we somehow or another have some stuff that mainstream drone manufacturers at the highest level aren't aware of yet? Is it ours? Is it like some crazy military stuff? 'Cause if it's not and it's coming from the ocean ... Like what do you mean it's coming ... What the fuck do you-
Fif- fif- 50 of them.
What do you mean? What do you mean 50 suburban-sized (laughs) -
So check this out. This is, this is really-
