Dr. Phil joins Rogan to attack woke culture, borders, and media

Joe Rogan and Dr. Phil spend the episode criticizing what they see as cultural and institutional breakdowns: from defunding police and gender ideology in schools to mass illegal immigration and social media–driven mental health crises.

They argue that activists, bureaucrats, and captured institutions (universities, medical associations, corporate media) are pushing extreme ideas while silencing dissent via labels like ‘transphobic’ or ‘domestic terrorist.’

Dr. Phil promotes his new book “We’ve Got Issues” and his forthcoming Merit Street Media network, which he positions as a fact-based, debate-focused alternative to legacy media spin.

They also warn about foreign influence (Russian bot farms, Chinese land purchases, immigration patterns), AI deepfakes, COVID-era school closures, and the erosion of meritocracy, arguing that families and critical thinking must be rebuilt as society’s core.

Key Takeaways

Specialize and fund police for law enforcement, not social work.

They argue defund-the-police was disastrous: police should be highly selected, rigorously trained (Rogan compares to Navy SEALs), and focused on suppressing illegal behavior, with social workers coming in afterward rather than cops being forced to wear multiple hats.

Treat teachers as educators, not covert therapists or co‑parents.

Both criticize policies where teachers keep gender‑related secrets from parents, arguing educators lack medical/psychological training for such decisions and that this undermines parental rights and teaches children to deceive their families.

Notable Quotes

The easiest way to lose your power is to let somebody convince you you never had any.

Dr. Phil

We are knowingly spending our tax dollars to sell children into sex trafficking.

Dr. Phil (quoting and summarizing what a border union leader told him)

If you make science illegal, you’ve admitted you’re running a cult.

Joe Rogan

Somebody needs to say, ‘Have you thought about…?’ I don’t want you to come up five years from now and say, ‘Nobody ever said anything to me.’

Dr. Phil

I don’t really care how I feel. What matters is what is. It matters what the facts are.

(drumming music plays) Joe Rogan podcast. Check it out. The Joe Rogan Experience.

Joe Rogan

Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night. All day. (rock music plays) I like how you did the Cliffs Notes. That's a slick move.

Dr. Phil McGraw

Yeah, how about that?

Joe Rogan

Yeah, that's very smart because it ... Big print, too, for dummies like me. This is nice.

Dr. Phil McGraw

Yeah, how about that?

Joe Rogan

Yeah. I'm excited to read this, man. You are, uh, a great giver of, of advice, sir. What is it like to carry that burden in a wild world? (laughs)

Dr. Phil McGraw

Well, I'll tell you what, uh, I ain't looking for something to do.

Joe Rogan

(laughs)

Dr. Phil McGraw

(laughs) I don't have to look very far.

Joe Rogan

Yeah. It's a wild time of, uh, mass confusion, people losing their fucking minds. Very strange.

Dr. Phil McGraw

Yeah, it really is. And, you know, I keep thinking, this is about as crazy as it can get, and then I go ... I get up, and-

Joe Rogan

And you see the NYPD dance team.

Dr. Phil McGraw

(laughs) I haven't seen that.

Joe Rogan

Okay, here we go.

Dr. Phil McGraw

All right, you gotta show me.

Joe Rogan

(laughs)

Dr. Phil McGraw

(laughs)

Joe Rogan

The NYPD in the middle of the craziest migrant crisis that anybody's ever experienced, in the middle of, uh, places where you arre- you attack police officers, violently attack police officers, and you release with no bail like that, (snaps fingers) right back out on the street.

Narrator

(upbeat music plays) Dance all night long.

Dr. Phil McGraw

(sighs)

Joe Rogan

This is the NYPD dance team, so they developed a dance team.

Dr. Phil McGraw

Oh.

Joe Rogan

You remember when you were a kid and you thought about the fall of the Roman Empire-

Dr. Phil McGraw

Yeah.

Joe Rogan

... and you were like, "Did they see it coming?"

Dr. Phil McGraw

You think this is a clue?

Joe Rogan

(laughs)

Dr. Phil McGraw

Is that what you're thinking?

Joe Rogan

I was just, I, I ... A, a bigger clue would be an alien landing on the White House lawn. It ... That's the only thing bigger. (laughs) This is insanity. The fact that they would, A, put this on television. First of all, is this the news? What is this that they put this on, Jamie?

Narrator

I think it's the, uh, like, the New York News, yeah, or-

Joe Rogan

Okay. Isn't there a lot of other shit that's the news, that's, like, really important for people to know about right now? (laughs)

Dr. Phil McGraw

You know what? I'll tell you. Anything that lifts morale with law enforcement right now-

Joe Rogan

That's true.

Dr. Phil McGraw

... I, that, you, you gotta give 'em that. Anything that lifts their morale and bonds 'em, 'cause they got the lowest morale ever, and I don't blame them.

Joe Rogan

I don't blame 'em either. They, uh ... This is not the solution, but they should be-

Dr. Phil McGraw

No.

Joe Rogan

... they should be massively funded, not defunded. You should train them better. You should ... If you've got all these situations with people, you got people that, I mean, how much training is involved today in this time of such a, a demand for police officers, right? Like, they're d- trying really hard to get police officers. They should train 'em like they train Navy SEALs. It should be, like, a very difficult process to get through, and we should be very thankful that people are doing the job, and they should be rewarded and treated well.
