WHAT IT’S REALLY ABOUT

Turn Lockdown Into Liftoff: Routines, Fitness, Business And Sanity Hacks

  1. Chris Williamson and the Propain Fitness guys, Jonny and Yusuf, share practical 'isolation hacks' for staying productive, healthy, and sane during COVID-19 lockdowns.
  2. They emphasize creating structure when working from home, building solid morning routines, limiting anxiety-inducing media, and preserving normal rituals around work and training.
  3. Fitness-wise, they argue you can make serious progress with bodyweight, basic equipment, and smart goals instead of writing off months of training.
  4. They also discuss protecting mental health, staying socially connected online, and using this period as an opportunity to build online income and come out of isolation stronger.

IDEAS WORTH REMEMBERING

5 ideas

Create a clear daily structure instead of ‘winging it’.

Plan the next day each evening, set a consistent sleep–wake time, and block focused work periods; without intentional structure, days bleed together and productivity and mood decline.

Preserve normal rituals for work and training to anchor your brain.

Get dressed for work, change into gym clothes, use a dedicated workspace (not your bed), and mimic your usual pre‑gym or pre‑office routines so life still feels coherent and purposeful.

Build a morning routine that makes you feel great before you go online.

Use the extra time saved from commuting to do high‑leverage habits—exercise, reflection, planning—rather than immediately diving into coffee, news, and social media.

Actively limit exposure to anxiety triggers like rolling news and doom-scrolling.

Keep your phone out of the bedroom, avoid checking it before breakfast and in the hour before bed, and move messaging apps to your computer; once you know the basic guidelines, more news rarely helps.

Take home fitness seriously: progressive overload still applies.

You can progress for months with a pull-up bar, bands, and perhaps parallettes by setting clear goals (e.g., pull-ups, push-ups, handstands, conditioning) instead of doing random ‘fluffy’ bodyweight circuits.

WORDS WORTH SAVING

5 quotes

You can be the person that gets to impress all your friends off the back of what you did in isolation.

Jonny

It is immensely difficult—elite-level difficult—to just do one thing for a period of time. That is productivity.

Jonny

Everyone now is feeling what it feels like to be a self‑employed person who works mostly online.

Chris Williamson

The main message has to just be minimizing exposure because it's much better to not get it than to try and strengthen your immune system but still be going out.

Yusuf

You have two choices. You can either exist through this or you can use it as an opportunity to flourish.
