Chaos cold open & playful derailments

    1. CW

Catch up 103. Come round so fast, don't they?

    2. JO

You'd think we'd have caught up by now, wouldn't you?

    3. CW

      I went to America.

    4. JO

      Twice.

    5. CW

      As far as I'm concerned.

    6. JO

You were, you were on a podcast with Elon Musk.

    7. CW

I shared some oxygen with Elon Musk, yeah.

    8. JO

Right. (laughs) You're trying to tell a story. (laughs)

    9. YU

We're trying to get through this podcast, wrecking it. Absolutely destroying it.

    10. JO

The listeners who've tuned in not to hear you two-

    11. YU

      You did yoga.

    12. CW

      Just say silly things.

    13. YU

It's our, this is our only purpose on the podcast, to just derail your story.

    14. JO

We've got nothing interesting to say.

    15. CW

Do you know what it is as well? Like, people can say that they think that Americans are too positive or like, over the top, which is probably, probably a little bit fair, but in my experience, Americans are so much more polite than the Brits.

    16. JO

The whole Marvel shit, and this is going to offend a lot of people, but I really struggle with it.

    17. CW

      Careful, careful. BMB's gonna-

    18. JO

      Yeah.

    19. YU

Have you seen any of them?

    20. JO

      Yeah.

    21. YU

      Which ones?

    22. JO

There's a guy with a big glove. Big bloke, big glove.

    23. YU

      Is it called Big Fist?

    24. JO

And like little midget gems that he has to put in the glove. And when he puts the midget gems in the glove-

    25. YU

      (laughs)

    26. JO

... (laughs) he, uh, he kills those people.

    27. CW

      Hang on.

    28. JO

      Are you serious?

    29. YU

      Yeah.

    30. CW

      Sorry.

Proper reset: what’s happened lately + Jonny’s looming CrossFit era

    1. YU

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. I'm joined by Johnny and Yousaf from propanefitness.com. Catch up 103. Come round so fast, don't they?

    2. JO

You'd think we'd have caught up by now, wouldn't you?

    3. CW

Well, the problem is that we're a conveyor belt of catching, aren't we?

    4. JO

Things constantly happen that we need to catch.

    5. CW

E- exactly. Faster than we can actually get them out.

    6. JO

      (laughs)

    7. CW

But the map is not the territory, because if we were catching up at the exact pace that they were coming in, we would just be live broadcasting all of our lives.

    8. JO

      We'd just be current.

    9. CW

      Yeah, we would.

    10. YU

      We would be streamers.

    11. CW

And we're constantly behind as well. We would be streamers.

    12. YU

I have a microphone in, on my desk, and these kids walked past the other day and went, "Oh, are you a streamer?"

    13. JO

      (laughs)

    14. YU

And, and I, that was the moment I knew that I'm out of touch with the youth of these days.

    15. JO

      (laughs)

    16. YU

I was like, uh, kind of, but not-

    17. CW

Actually, what I do are webinars. They're very similar.

    18. JO

      Webinar.

    19. CW

Webinar, but they're crucially different. Uh, do you need your ad set optimizing?

    20. JO

      (laughs)

    21. YU

They give the appearance of live, but they're sometimes pre-recorded.

    22. CW

That's the thing, that's the thing.

    23. JO

      The game, man.

    24. CW

      That's a lie, yeah. Webinar.

    25. JO

      Webinar.

    26. CW

Um, so yeah, it's been not that long since the last one, but loads of stuff's happened, so we're gonna catch the fuck up.

    27. JO

      Catch all of it up.

    28. CW

      Catch it up.

    29. JO

      Into one big bit.

    30. CW

Have you got a, a synopsis of what's happened over the last sort of two months for you?

  3. 3:065:06

Yusef’s medical degree endgame: stress, fear, and opportunity cost

    1. CW

Green dog. Right, so, um, what have you done, Yousaf?

    2. YU

      I've l- l- literally just been-

    3. JO

      Medicine.

    4. YU

... yeah, deep in the hole.

    5. JO

      Of medicine.

    6. YU

      Final few weeks now, so.

    7. CW

What are the final few weeks of doing a medical degree like, for anyone who's considering doing it?

    8. YU

So your, your, your anal tone is non-existent.

    9. JO

      When you say anal tone-

    10. YU

      Yeah.

    11. JO

... can you describe what you mean?

    12. YU

(clears throat) You, that you can't maintain the integrity of your fecal continence.

    13. CW

So your bum, bum is normally, but instead...

    14. YU

      It's just (whooshes) .

    15. CW

      Yeah.

    16. YU

      Honestly.

    17. JO

      Farts don't make a sound.

    18. CW

      Like a windsock.

    19. JO

      Yeah.

    20. YU

Yeah. And I- I'm, I'm saying that as an analogy for the intense fear that I experience day-to-day at the moment. So, this time last year, I had a heart rate monitor and my resting heart rate was between 80 and 100-

    21. JO

      Was that the Withings watch?

    22. CW

      Withings.

    23. YU

      Yeah.

    24. JO

      Nokia watch.

    25. CW

Definitely didn't give that away from an influencer program for free. Sorry, Withings.

    26. YU

      (laughs)

    27. CW

Um, so what's the fear? The fear is comprised of having to re-sit the year.

    28. YU

      Yeah.

    29. JO

      It's, it's the nine grand, isn't it?

    30. YU

      It's the nine grand.

  4. 5:067:09

America trip #1: ROMWOD filming and the ‘American yoga’ culture shock

    1. CW

      I went to America.

    2. JO

      Twice.

    3. CW

      Twice. Twice.

    4. JO

      You went to America-

    5. YU

      Two times.

    6. CW

      ... back.

    7. JO

And then you'd gone, done gone back to it again.

    8. CW

And came, came back again, yeah. Like a boom run.

    9. YU

It was such a short gap between the two trips.

    10. JO

Two weeks. It was like a shuttle run.

    11. CW

      Two weeks.

    12. YU

What stopped you just staying there? Did you have things you had to take care of?

    13. CW

      I'd, I'd have, I'd have been... Well, yeah. I have a life.

    14. YU

      Dogs to feed.

    15. JO

      CrossFit.

    16. CW

      I have CrossFit to do.

    17. YU

CrossFit to fist. Fist to cross.

    18. CW

Um, so yeah, no, first trip was really cool. Um, flew out to Redlands to go and film with Romwood again. Um, got to see Daniel and Shauna, the two, uh, people that own that. And Daniel showed me his fancy new 911 Turbo, um, which was a terrifying vehicle.

    19. JO

      Is it supple?

    20. CW

Is it supple? Yeah, it's very, uh-

    21. YU

      911, it's the best.

    22. CW

It's, it's lost its, uh... What?

    23. JO

      (laughs)

    24. CW

      I don't get it.

    25. JO

I don't know what you mean.

    26. YU

It, that's it, it was a terrible reference to... If anyone knows in the comments.

    27. JO

      (laughs)

    28. CW

      What, 911, it's the best?

    29. YU

      Yeah.

    30. JO

This isn't a joke based on...

  5. 7:0914:42

Silicon jokes, plastic surgery social media, and how brutal cosmetic procedures look

    1. CW

... one (clears throat) , one of the, one of the big differences was I did a bunch of yoga workouts beforehand. Um, (clicks tongue) lot of silicon in, uh, in American yoga studios. Lot of silicon.

    2. JO

Hold on. So yoga workout distinct from a normal Romwod workout?

    3. CW

Yeah, so Romwod's like just yin yoga. They have a huge yoga studio that has 1,000 members or, like, 500 members or something next door to where we film.

    4. JO

      Is-

    5. YU

Is it branded Romwod or just

    6. JO

      a side group?

    7. CW

No, so it's the Yoga Rooms in Redlands. Highly recommended for anyone who's listening from Redlands.

    8. JO

      So the owners of Romwod-

    9. CW

      Yeah.

    10. JO

      ... have a separate business?

    11. CW

Yes, which is their first business, which is a yoga studio, which has classes which regularly top 100 people.

    12. JO

And tha- that just has a lot of silicon in it.

    13. CW

      There's a lot of-

    14. YU

      Hmm.

    15. CW

      ... uh, enhanced women there.

    16. JO

      Right.

    17. CW

      Uh-

    18. JO

Oh, I see what you mean.

    19. YU

      Ah.

    20. JO

      See what you mean.

    21. CW

      Lots of enhanced-

    22. JO

I was thinking silicon floors, weird, like-

    23. YU

I was like, "What are the tools they use there?"

    24. JO

... odd, odd, odd material choices.

    25. CW

      No. So the-

    26. JO

      Hammers, mallets, maces.

    27. CW

The, like, their primary, their primary market appears to be, um-

    28. JO

      Big boobed.

    29. CW

... a heavy amount ... Well, no, they're not big boobed, not necessarily before they go. Um, so women, maybe 30 to 50, 55, um, very well presented, fair bit of money. Redlands quite, quite a sort of affluent area. Um, and there's just, there's a lot of chests there, like high volume of chests. Um, and I asked, I was like, "Why-"

    30. YU

      Three sets of 12.

  6. 14:4217:43

LA micro-mobility: Bird/Lime scooters, chargers, and the coming autonomy economy

    1. CW

So you can fall, your head through. So that was fun. Um, and then, yeah, went to, went to LA and spent a fair bit of time on Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Um, and was just reintroduced to this electric scooter phenomenon which is completely destroying LA. In a cool way, but it's just the maddest thing to see now. There's, for people who don't know, Bird, Lime, uh, I think it's like Up and something else are brands of scooter companies-

    2. JO

      Oh, okay.

    3. CW

... who have just dropped these 24 kilometer range electric mini scooters, like what you'd see kids riding around on, um, schoolchildren. But they've got a little trigger on them which, when you push it, accelerates up to about 16 miles an hour and a little brake, and everyone is just whizzing around on these scooters. And you open it like a, um, one of those ride-on, uh, bikes that you can get in the UK at the moment.

    4. YU

      It's like a micro scooter.

    5. CW

      With an electric motor.

    6. YU

Is it 'cause the town is so fast that you need something to get you around?

    7. CW

It's because a lot of people already skate and bike, and there's heavily pedestrianized areas that are built for, or um, I guess, riding areas that are built for exactly that.

    8. YU

What's the problem with normal bicycles?

    9. CW

      That they're not as cool.

    10. YU

      Okay.

    11. CW

And they don't go as fast. Like, unless you're really gunning it-

    12. YU

And you have to, you have to be absolutely everywhere.

    13. CW

... you have to use it. So every different iteration of scooter and electric vehicle is now being used by these people. So you've got, like, an electric scooter one, then you've got a bike one where you can both pedal and, uh, use the electric motor to go even faster, and they're fucking rapid. Um, and there's a skateboard one now where you're just a skateboard with a remote control, and you scan it, and you can just deposit them wherever you stop and-

    14. JO

So it's, it's exactly like the bikes in the UK.

    15. CW

      Yes, yeah.

    16. JO

      But much better.

    17. CW

Much better, faster, more, um, like cheaper as well. It's a dollar to start and like, I think it's like 15 cent a minute. It's like 10p a minute to ride however far you want.

    18. JO

      I suppose you're using power, aren't you?

    19. CW

      Yeah. And then there's a-

    20. YU

Do you have to dock it in certain stations?

    21. CW

No, so there's the, an entire sub-, uh, market of chargers so people get paid to charge these things. You sign up as a charger, take the things home with you, plug them into your wall, and then you get money based on how many you charge.

    22. YU

Oh. I'm so looking forward to this, like, decentralization of ............................ So with the Tesla thing as well, you know, they're saying you can, if you get a Tesla that has the, the full self-driving unit, you can then Uber it out to people when you're not using it. So it can take you to work, and then you just leave it to just taxi people around.

    23. CW

Is that really what they've said?

    24. JO

      Apparently, yeah.

    25. YU

There's an internal, internal facing camera if someone, like, spunks or vomits in your car, and then you can always clean that up. (laughs)

    26. JO

      Or both, at once.

    27. YU

VMD was just like trying to...

    28. JO

      (laughs)

    29. YU

Um, yeah, or both, and then you can just charge them for it. So um-

    30. JO

      Just automatically as well.

  7. 17:4318:53

Automation trust: self-driving cars, robotic surgery, and risk psychology

    1. JO

... there's a gap for... 'Cause th- I mean, they already exist, don't they? Teslas can already drive themselves, but it's-

    2. YU

      I think they will.

    3. JO

They have to be safe enough that you can just...

    4. YU

Yeah. Did, did we talk about this last time, where we were saying how people would rather die of their own-

    5. JO

      Mm-hmm. Volition.

    6. YU

Voli- Yeah, their, their own folly than die from an automated car.

    7. JO

      Yeah.

    8. YU

Even though the, the chance of dying is like 1,000 times less.

    9. CW

      Yeah.

    10. YU

      It's like...

    11. CW

It's just people don't like putting their, uh, life in the hands of something ... Th- they would much, much sooner make their own, make their own error, wouldn't they?

    12. YU

Would you, if you were offered to have, if you had to have surgery for something, and you were offered to have it done by a robotic algorithm that's got the, like micro-

    13. CW

      Mm-hmm.

    14. YU

... things, would you do it?

    15. CW

Uh, I'd want to see what the success rate.

    16. YU

Okay. Like assuming it had a much higher success rate-

    17. CW

      Yeah, fine.

    18. YU

      ... would you?

    19. JO

I'd wanna know how many operations the algorithm had done.

    20. YU

Okay. So you're not the pilot patient. (laughs)

    21. JO

Well, so I think that the algorithm's gonna learn based off ... So the surgeon, let's say, has-

    22. CW

      Tens of thousands.

    23. JO

... ten thousand hours of experience.

    24. YU

      Oh, okay.

    25. JO

The algorithm may have only seen what's been programmed, but like, it's how the surgeon reacts based on the experience in a unique situation.

    26. YU

      That is a excellent answer.

    27. JO

      (laughs)

    28. YU

      That is-

    29. JO

      Thanks.

  8. 18:5336:22

Movie & celebrity tangent: Pirates of the Caribbean, public apologies, and tipping culture

    1. CW

I'm going to interject here, 'cause I can't get out of my mind.

    2. JO

      (laughs)

    3. CW

This new Pirates of the Caribbean movie-

    4. JO

      (laughs)

    5. CW

... which has just come on Netflix is fucking shit.

    6. JO

      Not seen it.

    7. CW

Captain Jack Sparrow steals a safe which attaches itself to an entire house or bank, and then they have like four horses that have a ... You can imagine all these horses have got ropes behind them, they've attached it into this safe. They pull the safe and it's this comedy thing where they've hooked it through the back of the building, and the safe's gonna pop through the back of the building, but they don't. They just drag the whole building for like two towns. And the entire building's being pulled behind all of these horses. Can you understand what I mean?

    8. JO

      Yeah.

    9. CW

And it's just, that's ridiculous. And Johnny Depp has completely lost his mind. Just running around like ... Well, it's ju- yeah. I mean-

    10. JO

      I'm Captain Jack Sparrow.

    11. CW

The, the worst thing is that I don't think that he even knows who he is when he takes off the Captain Jack Sparrow thing now.

    12. JO

      Mm-hmm.

    13. CW

Like, he's been shaving his head and wearing like T-shirts with slogans on.

    14. JO

He did, did something a while ago where he like smuggled a dog into Australia or something.

    15. CW

      Did he?

    16. JO

      Yeah, did you see that-

    17. CW

      No.

    18. JO

... on the news? It was a w- it was a while ago. Like, I'm sure him and his wife, if he has a wife, this is how out of touch I am with this.

    19. CW

      Yeah.

    20. JO

He was on the news. Do you know what it is, Dean?

    21. YU

      (laughs)

    22. CW

      Dean can't, Dean can't speak.

    23. JO

      (laughs)

    24. CW

Dean doesn't speak. Dean doesn't know what it is. (laughs) He's shaking his head at me.

    25. YU

      Dean doesn't speak.

    26. JO

He did something where he was having to publicly apologize for smuggling a dog-

    27. CW

      For smuggling a dog.

    28. JO

      ... (laughs) into the country.

    29. CW

      Jesus Christ.

    30. JO

      That's right.

  9. 36:2242:14

InsideTracker bloodwork + meeting David Sinclair (and the ‘Elon Musk oxygen’ joke)

    1. CW

It's a weird one. So, yeah, did that, then went to Boston. Um-

    2. JO

      Boston.

    3. CW

      Boston. Uh-

    4. JO

Great, uh, it's gr- it's the best American accent ............................

    5. CW

      Yeah, it's sick.

    6. JO

      Yeah.

    7. CW

So I spent a bit of time with Carrie from Inside Tracker. She was the, the lady who I was dealing with from them lovely people that flew me out there. And, um-

    8. JO

Did you have your bloods done?

    9. CW

      (clears throat) Did I have-

    10. JO

      Bloods.

    11. CW

I had my bloods done, um, which will be on an episode which everyone's already heard. Um-

    12. JO

      Yeah, every bit.

    13. CW

      Every bit of it.

    14. JO

What did they measure and what were the results?

    15. CW

      Um-

    16. JO

'Cause I haven't listened to the episode.

    17. CW

Well, it doesn't exist yet. So, it's out, it's out next week. But the last, like, two weeks ago in podcast land.

    18. JO

      Right.

    19. CW

      Uh-

    20. JO

Love the place podcast land is.

    21. CW

      It's crazy.

    22. JO

      I love being here.

    23. YU

      It's great.

    24. CW

      I know. There's a time-

    25. JO

      'Cause nothing's happened yet.

    26. CW

Where time and space don't exist.

    27. JO

      (laughs)

    28. CW

Um, but it was fun, and Carrie's the first person who's got, like, born and bred near Boston, um, and just has the accent.

    29. JO

      Right.

    30. CW

      Such, such a fantastic accent.

  10. 42:1449:00

Telomeres, wearables, DNA privacy, and the ‘nothing to hide’ trap

    1. CW

Right. No, so it's not a telomere length test, which I'd love to get done.

    2. JO

      A telomere length-

    3. CW

Would you care to explain what telomeres are, please?

    4. YU

      Yeah.

    5. JO

      Can I just see that?

    6. YU

      So there's a, um...

    7. ... end bit to part of your DNA structure that how ... (laughs)

    8. CW

      (laughs)

    9. YU

That how long it is, is one of the biggest correlates with how long you're going to live, assuming you're not hit by a bus or something.

    10. CW

      Oh, okay.

    11. YU

Um, and meditation and yoga extend it. I think tai chi particularly, like, stops telomerase, which is the enzyme which cuts it away from-

    12. CW

      As fast?

    13. YU

      Yeah. So-

    14. CW

      Right.

    15. YU

... there is a, like, natural life-lengthening thing of it and, uh, I think kids who have had, kids who have been exposed to violence at a young age have shorter telomeres.

    16. CW

So it's, it ... That is-

    17. YU

      The crackers, yeah.

    18. CW

... a very accurate way of looking at your inner age. Um, but-

    19. YU

      Right.

    20. CW

... what, um, InsideTrack can do is they aggregate all of your markers, uh, and you can imagine that would be the same as Whoop's Recovery perhaps-

    21. YU

      Mm-hmm.

    22. CW

... where it aggregates a bunch of different markers and gives you an, a single output. Um, Johnny's, he's away from, he's away from Whoop now.

    23. YU

      Doesn't he have Fitbit?

    24. CW

      Oh, yeah, Fitbit. Um.

    25. YU

Does my heart rate and everything.

    26. CW

So the, the, but the reason that I'm over-aged with regards to that is that my glucose, there's a lot of weight towards glucose, um, which is easy enough for me to bring down.

    27. YU

Well, sugar's, uh, really addictive, isn't it? It's-

    28. CW

It's anyone who has a high carb diet, though, is, is a difficult, difficult one.

    29. YU

      Oh, I'm joking.

    30. CW

Um, so David Sinclair, yeah, like the guy has an Australian knighthood, like the equivalent of a knighthood, but the Australian one where you don't change your, it- it does not-

  11. 49:001:07:56

Drones, synthetic biology, and end-of-world scenarios (Black Mirror territory)

    1. CW

I was reading about Amazon's future logistics plans. Have you read this?

    2. JO

      With the drone stuff?

    3. YU

      Oh.

    4. CW

Yeah. So with drones and, but more so with just traditional, um, postal service at the moment.

    5. JO

      Right.

    6. CW

So just buying up fleets of plane, like Jeff Bezos is buying up fleets of planes.

    7. YU

      (laughs)

    8. CW

And it, they were comparing them, and is it the American Postal Service? Are they the big ones?

    9. JO

      Mm-hmm.

    10. CW

Um, I think the American Postal Service have got nearly 1,000 planes and Amazon have 63, but they're just-

    11. YU

      Just growing them.

    12. CW

      ... yeah, just consuming.

    13. JO

You've seen the clip of the drones being dropped out the back of an Amazon plane?

    14. CW

And then going to go and-

    15. JO

      Mm-hmm.

    16. CW

      ... deliver parcels.

    17. JO

      Yeah.

    18. CW

      Yeah.

    19. YU

So that's another thing. You, you, have you seen, you, you, we've all seen the video of like the mock, um-

    20. JO

      Slaughterbots?

    21. CW

      Yeah.

    22. YU

      Yeah.

    23. CW

Yeah, we've talked about that a few times.

    24. YU

      Oh.

    25. CW

      They're pretty, they're pretty scary.

    26. JO

The, there's a really interesting podcast.

    27. CW

      Naval?

    28. JO

      No.

    29. CW

      Oh.

    30. JO

It's called Masters of Scale. Have you heard of it?

  12. 1:02:041:06:09

Training pivot: Jonny quits powerlifting (for now), CrossFit onboarding, and injury reality

    1. CW

I wrote some things down on my phone.

    2. YU

      For catch up?

    3. JO

Oh, it was this morning before I did my go WOD.

    4. CW

      Nice.

    5. YU

      Ah.

    6. JO

      Nope.

    7. YU

      We've got life hacks next.

    8. CW

We have got life hacks, although life hacks will probably be-

    9. JO

Did my first five kilometer run.

    10. YU

      Oh, yeah.

    11. CW

How was your first five kilometer run?

    12. JO

      Really, really fucking difficult.

    13. CW

      Okay. You did Fran?

    14. JO

I did do Fran, but I can't do a thruster. I've not got the shoulder mobility to get into a front rack position at the bottom of a front squat.

    15. CW

That's years of bench for you there.

    16. JO

So I had to do a be- a behind the neck thruster.

    17. CW

I can't wait. So we're doing ... For the people that are listening, this will be in the past now, but me and Johnny are doing his crossfit on ramp tomorrow. Um, Johnny thought that it was going to be someone putting him in a pair of water wings and a special helmet-

    18. JO

      (laughs)

    19. CW

... and saying, "So this is how you do a squat."

    20. JO

That's honestly what I thought. (laughs) And it's, it's not that.

    21. CW

Um, what it ra- what it actually is, is a two and a half hour training session where there's-

    22. JO

      Yeah.

    23. CW

... some movements demoed and then metcons that use those movements interlaced in the workout, uh, like the overall workout.

    24. JO

      Metabolic conditioning.

    25. YU

      Is it a standardized thing?

    26. CW

      No.

    27. JO

      Okay.

    28. CW

So just whatever this bloke fancies. Yeah.

    29. JO

      Oh, no.

    30. CW

And the guy that's taking it won't be tremendously gentle either, I'm afraid.

  13. 1:06:091:11:59

Extreme mindset stories: Ant Middleton Everest tale + ultra-endurance madness

    1. JO

Uh, I went to see Ant Middleton.

    2. CW

Is that the guy that does it with Dec?

    3. JO

      (laughs) No. Have you seen-

    4. CW

Is he the one in rehab?

    5. JO

      No. That's Ant.

    6. CW

Is Dec the one in rehab?

    7. JO

No. So it's not Ant and Dec.

    8. CW

      Okay.

    9. JO

Right? Ant Middleton is the presenter, one of the presenters on-

    10. CW

      I'm a Celebrity.

    11. JO

      No.

    12. CW

      (laughs)

    13. JO

SAS. This is like the David Goggins.

    14. CW

Who even the fuck is David Goggins?

    15. JO

It's the same as Gog- Chris, shut the fuck up. No, it's, um, he's, he presents the SAS: Are You Tough Enough?

    16. CW

      Right.

    17. JO

Thing. Former special forces guy. So Be-

    18. CW

Is it a one to one?

    19. JO

No. He's, he's quite famous now.

    20. CW

      Right.

    21. JO

He did a talk at the city hall, Becka got me tickets for Christmas-

    22. CW

      Yep.

    23. JO

... um, called Mind Over Muscle. Now, both of you would have found it intensely difficult to sit through because it was very ... It was like, "I've got a positive, I have a positive mindset, right?"

    24. YU

      Oh, okay.

    25. JO

"Got to look at the situation and just think, how can I think positively about it," and you're sort of like, "Fuck's sake." But there are a few things he said that were really interesting. Principally, it, there's clips where he climbs Everest and you can just see glimpses of, like, what it takes to be in the SAS. So like, there are people coming down Everest. So he's, you're meant to go like, base camp, camp one, back down again. Base camp, camp one, camp two, camp one, down again, and do it that way.

    26. YU

      Why?

    27. JO

To gl- gradually acclimatize to the altitude. He was like, did base camp, camp one, saw that there was a dangerous bit, risky bit, where there'd been a avalanche, so he's like, "Oh, fuck that. I'm not, I don't want to do that multiple times. I'll just go base camp, camp one, back down again, and I'll just go to the summit." And everyone's like, "Uh, mate, don't fucking," like the Sherpas are going like, "Don't want to do that, mate." He's like, "Yeah, it's all right." And he's going up and there's a storm, storm warning. Everyone's like, "We need to turn back." He's like, "No, it's okay."
