Robert Greene Unpacks Power, Seduction, Confidence, Mastery, And Mortality
Robert Greene discusses the real nature of power as self-mastery and influence rather than status or titles, arguing that powerlessness is more corrupting than power itself.
He explains seduction as a high form of power rooted in attention, vulnerability, and effort—not looks or tricks—and contrasts seductive traits with anti‑seductive behaviors common in modern dating.
Greene outlines his concept of mastery, emphasizing long-term skill acquisition, apprenticeship, and finding a “life’s task” over the popular but misleading idea of “following your passion.”
Reflecting on a life-changing stroke in 2018, he shares how disability reshaped his views on gratitude, happiness, dependence, and the preciousness of ordinary abilities we take for granted.
