In this episode of The Diary of a CEO, featuring Dr Nathan Bryan and Steven Bartlett, No.1 Nitric Oxide Expert: This is the anti-aging cure no one is talking about! explores hidden Longevity Switch: Nitric Oxide’s Role In Aging, Disease, Repair Biochemist Dr. Nathan Bryan argues that declining nitric oxide (NO) production is the earliest and most fundamental driver of age‑related chronic disease, from erectile dysfunction and hypertension to diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and poor wound healing.

Hidden Longevity Switch: Nitric Oxide’s Role In Aging, Disease, Repair

Biochemist Dr. Nathan Bryan argues that declining nitric oxide (NO) production is the earliest and most fundamental driver of age‑related chronic disease, from erectile dysfunction and hypertension to diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and poor wound healing.

He explains how NO regulates blood flow, oxygen delivery, stem cell mobilization, mitochondrial function, and telomere maintenance, making it a central “molecule of longevity.”

Bryan contends that modern habits—antiseptic mouthwash, fluoridated toothpaste and water, antacids, excess sugar, sedentary lifestyles, and mouth breathing—cripple NO pathways, while simple changes in oral hygiene, diet, breathing, sunlight, and movement can restore them.

He is highly critical of the current medical and pharmaceutical system, claiming it’s financially structured to manage disease rather than cure it, and argues that future healthcare will depend on nitric‑oxide–based diagnostics, drugs, and consumer products.

Key Takeaways

Nitric oxide decline is an early, central driver of chronic disease

NO is produced by endothelial cells lining blood vessels and acts as a signaling gas that dilates vessels, regulates blood pressure, improves oxygen delivery, and mobilizes stem cells. ...

Erectile dysfunction and exercise intolerance are early warning signs of NO deficiency

Bryan calls ED the “canary in the coal mine” of vascular disease: erections in both men and women depend on NO‑mediated vasodilation. ...

Oral hygiene products can silently sabotage nitric oxide and blood pressure

Specific oral bacteria convert dietary nitrate (from vegetables) into nitrite and NO; humans lack this enzyme and are dependent on these microbes. ...

Food choices and common drugs can disable NO pathways

High sugar and high‑glycemic foods glycate and damage proteins, including the NO‑synthesizing enzyme, contributing to diabetes complications and vascular dysfunction. ...

Nitric oxide is a “master longevity molecule” affecting stem cells, telomeres, and mitochondria

NO signals stem cells to mobilize and differentiate, helping replace damaged cells; without it, senescent “zombie” cells accumulate. ...

Breathing, light exposure, and movement can upregulate NO—if enzymes and microbiome are intact

Nasal breathing and humming mechanically activate NO synthase in sinus epithelium, dilating airways and pulmonary vessels and lowering blood pressure. ...

Bryan believes future medicine will be NO‑centric and challenges current pharma incentives

He asserts that many blockbuster drugs fail to address NO deficiency, explaining “resistant hypertension” and persistent chronic disease. ...

Notable Quotes

This simple molecule, nitric oxide gas, I'm absolutely convinced will eradicate and cure Alzheimer's.

Dr. Nathan Bryan

Loss of nitric oxide production is the earliest event in the onset and progression of age-related chronic disease.

No one is interested in curing human disease because medicine is a business.

Dr. Nathan Bryan

Nitric oxide is the foundational longevity molecule because it addresses stem cells, telomeres, and mitochondrial function. There’s no other molecule in the body that does that.

Questions Answered in This Episode

Your claim that nitric oxide can eradicate Alzheimer’s is bold—what specific early clinical markers or imaging findings would you use to identify patients soon enough for NO therapy to be genuinely curative, not just stabilizing?

You argue that 7 days of mouthwash can significantly raise blood pressure; what should clinicians do right now with this information—should they start routinely screening for mouthwash use in patients with ‘resistant’ hypertension?

He explains how NO regulates blood flow, oxygen delivery, stem cell mobilization, mitochondrial function, and telomere maintenance, making it a central “molecule of longevity.”

Given your stance on fluoride as ‘all risk, no benefit,’ what would a practical, evidence‑based transition plan look like for municipalities and dental practices that have relied on fluoridation for decades?

Bryan contends that modern habits—antiseptic mouthwash, fluoridated toothpaste and water, antacids, excess sugar, sedentary lifestyles, and mouth breathing—cripple NO pathways, while simple changes in oral hygiene, diet, breathing, sunlight, and movement can restore them.

You’ve described 100% of the advanced solid‑tumor patients you see as having dental infections; what kind of prospective study design would you consider strong enough to test whether treating those infections can actually alter cancer progression or recurrence rates?

I'm absolutely convinced this will eradicate and cure Alzheimer's.

Steven Bartlett

Really?

Dr Nathan Bryan

The data don't lie, and I'm a data guy and the future of medicine and healthcare around the globe is gonna be dependent upon this.

Steven Bartlett

Dr. Nathan Bryan is the biochemist whose cutting-edge research suggests- ... how one crucial molecule can impact our health, brain function, and longevity. That molecule is nitric oxide.

Dr Nathan Bryan

Nitric oxide is a signaling molecule in the human body which regulates things like blood flow and oxygen delivery. And the loss of nitric oxide production is the earliest event in the onset and progression of age-related chronic disease. So things like erectile dysfunction, diabetes, Alzheimer's, high blood pressure, which is the number one driver of cardiovascular disease, which is the number one killer of men and women worldwide. And 50% of the patients that are treated with prescription medication don't respond with better blood pressure because they aren't targeted toward nitric oxide. But most people have never heard of this. They don't know that if you can't walk up a flight of steps or exercise moderately for 15, 20 minutes, then you're nitric oxide deficient. They don't know that most toothpaste and mouthwash is killing the oral microbiome that's partly responsible for production of nitric oxide. But no one is interested in curing human disease 'cause medicine is a business. And the epiphany for me came 'cause my dad had a car accident, and he developed these non-healing wounds. And I saw the failure of the standard of care to treat Dad's wounds, and so I just thought that there had to be a better way. And simply by giving nitric oxide, I've healed this wound within six months.

Steven Bartlett

That's crazy. So how do I improve my nitric oxide levels?

Dr Nathan Bryan

It's what you shouldn't be doing, and we'll cover those step-by-step. Number one, you have to avoid-

(bright music) Dr. Nathan Bryan, you have committed much of your life to writing about and educating people on a subject that I know absolutely nothing about. But from doing the research for today, I'm pretty shocked that I don't know more about this subject. So for those people who have just clicked to listen to this conversation, can you tell them the mission you're on and why it's so important?
